First let me say THANK YOU!!! to the programmer(s) for creating yet another version of this great application. I haven't encoded anything for my PSP since my upgrade (last week) and my first (working) file conversion looks amazing. I did have quite a few failures also.

If anyone can shed some light on how the resolution and auto resize functions are suppose to work, and what difference the auto framerate makes it would really be appreciated.

It seems I'm running into problems with videos that are or contain interlaced in them. They always seem to result in unrecognized files and seem to come out at a greater vertical height than they should be. That may be one of the problems that I see some people are having.

It also seems that DivX and/or XviD encoded video has problems.

MY TEST SETTINGS

General PSP 2-Pass - FFmpeg MINB

Video

MPEG-4AVC
Main Profile
Level 3
2 Pass
1024 kbps
Width 720
Height 480
Aspect - original
Framerate 29.97

Auto Resize enabled - 720x480
Mod16 Size unchecked - I don't know what this is
Total Pixels unchecked - I don't know what this is

AutoFramerate Enabled

These settings have worked to successfully re-encoded the first part of The Animatrix - Final Flight of the Osiris.

Original File (vob) size 853 x 480 and the output file size is 720 x 480

The odd thing is that the output file has the proper black crop bars on top and bottom so the aspect ratio appears to be correct. Is this because of the Auto Resize? If that's the case then what's the purpose/need for cropping and padding options?

OK now I have encoded a full movie (Constantine) using the same settings. The movie plays fine and clear in QT but on the PSP it appears to have a loading lag. The memory card flashes a bit and a second later there is a pause in the video and/or audio for an instant. My assumption here it that the PSP has too much information to process from the file which is 0.99 GB

I have changed the following settings:

lowered video bitrate to 768
Changed Keyframe Interval from 300 to 250

I have encoded a quick test of another part from The Animatrix (The Second Renaissance Part II) and it's running fine and looks great. I will encode Canstantine again now and see what happens.

Test completed. Unfortunately I'm still having the same video pause glitch as I described previously and the file also has the same problem BT52 describes in his post towards the end. I'm gonna try to lower the bit rate again, but I think if that doesn't work I'm done testing for now. Too bad there's no info to help us test out this software....it would be a very nice program if it worked properly. I guess I can still make short files that look great.

A lot of the options are stuff that are out of my league. I only play with PSPVideo9 enough to get it to work the way I want it to. I'm sure everyone else is like that. I did do a test on the enable resize for someone and it seems to always create unsupported data because it would put my videos in strange resolutoin which is obviously not supported by the PSP. For AutoFramerate, I just left alone so it's been checked the whole time I've been playing with the program. Resolutions, I only chose what's in the dropdown list. I didn't type it out like you did. Maybe I should try?

Edit: I have your setup a try and man, there's some heavy interlacing, and I mean HEAVY interlacing when there is movement around. This is anime we're talking about.
