Well the may update has just passed and with that it added much needed file formats to the video playback function.

H.264 and Mpeg-4

When i saw that i started converting my tv shows and dvd so i can stream them to my console. But when i had my files i couldnt steam them. My Windows Media Player 11 was playing them fine but my xbox couldnt see them on my computer. I then put these files on my jump drive and plugged it into the console. Bang! They worked. So i started doing a little research and i came across a site made by the people who worked on the update saying that WMP11 only steams protected and un protected WMV to the 360. But to steam the new formats you need the Zune software. I was not aware of the limitations of WMP11 so i downloaded the zune software and now everything works now. My test movies and encoded tv shows are now streaming to the 360.

So i just wanted to let people know who hasnt figured it out already that if you want to stream your videos to your 360 use the zune software. Thats easier then using Media Connect Extender.....which, from that website i was reading, is now unsupported.
