Well, I've finally had it with PSP Video 9 v2.17b. If they ever release a FULL tested version of this program again maybe I'll try it. It seems to me that Red Kawa really couldn't give a crap about their program or they would be trying to help people out here. I thought the idea of beta testing was for interaction and feedback to and from the programmer(s) not just this "here you go, see if you can get it to work" attitude.

For now I'm going to be checking out PSPVC http://pspvc.nswardh.com/

I haven't figured out how to tweak the settings for proper aspect ratio and such just yet, but at least my encodes are coming out very nice and playable on my PSP (imagine that)

 Best of luck to all you masochists who keep trying to use this, I'm out!

Frankly, I haven't used PSP Video 9 for quite some time. And I don't intend to unless there's a much more complete update available. I've simply been using ffmpeg, which isn't as convenient, but works on everything I throw at it. PSP Video 9 currently fails on too many encodes. And if I fire up the next version, and get a stupid audio advert blaring out of my speakers telling me that I've won an iPod Nano every single time I start the program, I'm inclined to drop PSP Video 9 for good.

I'm still willing to wait for better, but I have to admit, I'm feeling a little discouraged.

Sorry to see you go.

If i recall correctly, there's only a small handful of people (if any) that are working on this. Currently the forums is active in the MKV area which seems to be the biggest area that people are having issues with. I'm only here from time to time and I'm only limited on my knowledge so I can't help with everything unfortunately.

I do agree the ads are annoying though. Hope PSPVC works out for you.

You're right, of course, nusakan. There's not a huge team of developers working on this program, and it's important to keep that in mind. I used PSP Video 9 a great deal in the past, and there just wasn't anything else out there as simple or convenient. When you're ripping and converting many DVDs for your PSP, that's important. I suppose it's a little difficult to not want that again with the new resolutions. It's been over a month since 2.17... I'm sure that'll get incremented fairly soon.

I can't get PSPVC to convert ANYTHING, much less one item. As soon as I click Preview or Start it crashes. To me, that program is for the masochists;)

Snort...you can disable/remove the advertisements by doing the following, which also disables the use of 'tracking' via Google Analytics.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

open the file 'hosts' with Notepad and add the following entries and file save

127.0.0.1 media.fastclick.net
127.0.0.1 google-analytics.com
127.0.0.1 www.google-analytics.com
127.0.0.1 www.redkawa.com

of course when you need to check the forums, open the file again with Notepad and just replace the last line with:

#127.0.0.1 www.redkawa.com

and just save the file, keep the file open, check the website for updates, forums, etc. Then remove the # and save and quit the file.

pspvideo9 converts files quicker than PSPVC...I used a 10min file for both pspvideo9 and pspvc, and pspvc took many times longer...pspsvc is slow but i would use because there are no advertisements and internet accesses that some users may not realize are being committed.

Thanks! :) Yup, I'm aware of this method. And I did indeed block fastclick, which is the origin of the audio ads. But I left the rest alone. I don't really like the idea of blocking the ads in a free product.

and just save the file, keep the file open, check the website for updates, forums, etc. Then remove the # and save and quit the file.

Additionally, after saving changes to the host file, executing the command "ipconfig /flushdns" via a command prompt ensures that the changes take place right away. ;)

I tried PSPVC, and found it to be incredibly buggy and crash prone. So, I'm the pragmatic sort. Between a program that crashes a lot and one that doesn't but has some advertising, I'll keep my eye on the latter. Truth is, I still don't use PSP Video 9 much. I'm waiting for more feature stability. In the meantime, I tend to use either MeGUI or ffmpeg, depending whether I'm on my Linux box or not. If Avidemux would improve PSP support, I'd be in heaven.

Get the old psp video 9 here (http://www.download.com/3001-2140_4-10573752.html) it has always worked without flaw, not a single failed encoding.

I wouldn't say that, there are still people in the old forums who ask for help cause it doesn't work.
