how?
I downloaded the file, opened the terminal, navigated to the .jar file, what command to use to execute the install?
Thanks in advance!

unzip the mediacenterx_jar.zip file and put ALL contents in your HOME FOLDER
/User/"your home folder"/<put files here>
open Terminal app
type java -jar
and then drag the MediaCenter.jar file into the window or type the path to it
ie
COMPNAME:~ testuser$ java -jar /Users/testuser/MediaCenter.jar
and it runs

thanks!
they should put that in the readme, it's completely opposite of what they said.
Ok, so I tried that. It then told me that the software folder wasn't in users/accountname/
So I moved all the contents of the mediacenterx_jar folder to my user directory.
Now i'm getting 'Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/mortbay/jetty/Handler'

you should have added the following from the zip file to your user folder
/users/accountname/core folder
/lib folder
/software folder
/mediacenter.jar
/webserver.prop
and leave the terminal window up while running

Thanks! I got it up and running, and now I can SEE the files on my HD, but when I try to download them, the PS3 browser says 'This page cannot be displayed. Network Error occurred.'
[edit] I found a post somewhere about the approved downloads folder. I've set it to Users/mydir/PS3/
but now when I try to download I get the same error as before, but the terminal reads:

bump for any help?
How about someone from the actual Red Kawa devteam? LOL
I just want to get this working, it has the potential to be the most-used app I have! :)
Thanks again in advance

OK people.
Everyone who has the "failed SocketConnector" error try this:
- Open the file "webserver.prop" in the "mediacenterx_jar" folder using texteditor.
- Change 8192 to 8194 and save
- Restart mediacentre
It should connect now!
If not, you need to change your firewall settings.
More info can be found here (http://www.redkawa.com/forums/showthread.php?p=657)
Many thanks to jackcheng pointing this out!

Well, I tried the directions... but I'm getting the error "Could not create the Java virtual machine." Any ideas? Is it possible that I don't have Java installed on this machine? Even though I coulda swore I did...
Edit: Just tried it again and at least I'm not getting a Java error anymore. Now when I try it, it just does nothing... doesn't make sense. I checked and I do have Java installed. Any ideas?
2nd Edit: Nevermind, it's working now. I'm so confused, haha.

when you type java -jar hit the space bar to create a space then drag MediaCenter.jar to the terminal

I am not very familiar with using the terminal, but I'm thinking maybe you need OS 10.3 or better??

Yep, based on my experience (see my post under Wii Media Center), the app won't run on Mac OS x 10.3.x because the version of Java there is 1.4.2. When I upgraded my Mac to 10.4 and Java 1.5 (or 5.0, depending on which nomenclature you use), it ran fine.
While I don't want to sound ungrateful, it would be nice if the devs would post something on the download page so that people will know what the minimum Mac system specs are (re: Java) before they download. It would be even nicer if the app could eventually be recompiled to run on something earlier than Java 1.5 - but I'm not a developer and that might not be possible.

hrm. I'm running 10.4.8... babywriter how do i check my java version?: maybe this is my problem.
I am so lost. read the instructions, forums tried everything but in terminal it says "can not create java virtual machine". can someone post a step by step.
thanks
