View Full Version : Wii Media Center X 0.92
Red Kawa
12-23-2006, 06:29 PM
0.92 Changelog:
Removed: CH Flash Video Player
Added: Flowplayer Flash Video Player
Added: Manually setting for IP of server
Added: Alerts for Slideshow and Music Functionality
Release Notes:
Linux users: WiiMCX cannot detect the computer's actual IP address properly due to a "feature" of Java. You must find out your IP and manually add it to the webserver.prop file in order to override WiiMCX's IP detection feature.
Some users noted that when playing videos in Wii Media Center X, the videos would playback very choppy and slowly. We investigated this issue and found that the Wii Opera Browser cannot play very high resolution, high bitrate video, probably due to lack of processing power. We have updated Wii Video 9 to create videos with a lower resolution and bitrate.
We have also changed the Flash Video Player to the much better Flowplayer. By default we have located the video controls off the screen in order to have full screen playback. Simply scroll down and zoom in to access the movie's controls.
Slideshow and Music functionality are still not working on the Wii or PS3. Since the Wii does not support LiveConnect (Javascript -> Flash communication) the whole Music app is useless on the Wii. Music playback will be possible in the future but it will take a lot of time to re-design the app from scratch. Getting slideshows working isn't a priority at the moment.
Upgrade Notes:
There is no upgrade installer, you must download the full installer and install it over your current version. This will overwrite any settings you may have made.

Just to let you know, even though the music and photos aren't working on the Wii, this app is still awesome and I can't wait for updates.

it would be great if you could stream roms to the wii so you dont have to pay for games you already have ive tried it already but it cant read the roms or something but it would be cool if they found a way round it i hope they do cos there are a lot of games i have for the n64 that probably wont be released on the virtual console like all the rare games

Red Kawa,
I just download the new version from Wii Media Center X and Wii Video 9. And I test it and both of the programs work good. Now I understand the 2 programs much better. You did a great Job, the new updates you did Red Kawa on the Wii Media Center X and Wii Video 9 are amazing.
I have one question about the Flowplayer Flash Video Player. I hope you can understand what I mean. Oke my question is: When you start Wii Media Center and than you go to view a video you convert to look it on the Wii, is it possible to vieuw that video also on your pc in the Wii Media Center When you click it?. I mean by that that you can put that code player in the Wii Media Center, so you click on the video you convert and than open the Flowplayer Flash Video Player to see the video. So you can view the video also on you pc. Maybe a good idea for the future or maybe the next version of Wii Media Center.
I hope you understand what I mean. thanks. :)
PS: Sorry for my bad english. and I am waiting for my Wii LAN Adapter to get my Wii on the internet It will come out 12 januari 2007. From now one I use a SD-Card for view my videos on my Wii.
edit: I have found what I did wrong again. I don't have put my .flv video files in my folder: C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\Media Center\software\Video\videos it works now on my pc. Whne I get my cable I can vieuw my videos on my wii to yeaahh :)

Great program, keep the updates coming! :)
You have some case errors in files.jsp, should be ..
<%@page import="redKawa.mediaCenter.music.*"%>
instead of Music.
Great stuff :)

Right now when I load up the Wii Media Center X page in my web browser (on my PC, as I left my Wii at my parents' house 'cause my dad wanted to play it this week) it's only showing 39 videos that are in my videos folder. Is this a preset limit? If so, is there a way we can change this? I have 101 videos in the folder I'd like to be able to access in my living room, but I'm unable to at the moment.
Maybe, if you're just trying to keep the page size smaller, make 30-40 per page, and just add multiple pages if there's more? /shrug Just a thought.
Great program though, definitely made my life easier (because I hated having to use Orb).

You look for a program that convert your videos in FLV, but why you just try Wii Video 9, you can download it HERE (http://www.redkawa.com/videoconverters/wiivideo9/). Happy new year everyone :)
Now that the hollidays are over, 2 weeks after the initial wii media center release, could we please hear a word stating what may or not work in a near futur ?
mp3 doesn't work, flv support is limited to small files, ...
Let us please know if there's still hope some of the announced functionalities will work.
TIA and best regards,
Steve

well to be honest i don't think the short video thing is to fault with red kawa. go to google video and play somehting like a music video that is longer than 3 minutes and you will probably see that it also stops playing or like me my entire wii locks up and i have to do a hard reboot. or maybe this is just me.

Hi Chalupa,
The other MCX developers and I are trying to come up with a good solution for the playback freeze bug and wondered if you could clarify your results for us.
When you were playing a Google Video did you do it by going to video.google.com and watching the video using their flash player? Or did you download the FLV you wanted to watch from video.google.com and then tried to play it using MCX?
Thanks
Colin

Yeah dude...no matter what...it wont play...um there is this other thing called Orb....yeah dont even waste your time...this would be a whole lot easier...now the video...it has to be over three minutes long man...then it will juss stop, freeze if you will...now i know theres other formats it could play in besides FLV...i guess thats all i have to say...peace

that will never be possible. By deffinition the host must be on. With out power the host can't send data.

about the only other one I know of is Orb http://www.orb.com. You need a decent PC to get the most out of it, but it handles streaming of a lot of media.

since red kawa has now come out and basically told everyone that they have no clue how to work on this project, I will let everyone know the program I have been currently using with great success, especially since it has a very active developer. If you are interested, head over to http://wmc.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/WiiCR, the home of WiiCR.
bye bye.
