Hello!
I found the converter on a software & tools page and was kinda curious about it. So I installed and started it (version 2.20). While starting it, the disappointment began...
a) it instantly tried to phone home - very annoying (OK, it's free and so there are ads)
b) in the options I can preselect the output format and then save the settings. But when I start to convert a test clip, it sets the current profile back to MPEG2 480p.
d) when I click on the tab "Library" I get an "unhandled exception error" with lots of text in the details, when I click "Continue" nothing happens, but I can't also browse local files.
e) after I created a new profile (H.264 with High profile and 2ch AAC, as the new specs for the XBox after the spring update tell it), it froze the conversion after two seconds.
Now to the questions:
a) if the VideoWizard doesn't work, why isn't the tab simply disabled?
b) if it is a converter for the Xbox360, why it can't convert to WMV (which is supported) and why only to MPEG2/4? MPEG2 is not supported by the XBox and MPEG4 only in certain levels and only since the spring update.
c) why can't it convert a .ts file (HD MPEG in 1080i/p)? It seems to convert them, but the resulting files are too small and have only black picture.
d) if the conversion is started, why isn't the file listed in the conversion queue?
e) if I abort the conversion, why do I need to select the file again in order to change the profile for a new run?
There might be more to ask, but this is all I experienced by just the attempt to convert a .ts file to H264.
