This is just me trying to squeeze the absolute maximum quality out of a PAL 720x576 widescreen MPG2, created from a DVB-T transport stream.
I can encode using the in built 480p 2 pass advanced profile without any problem, but have trouble the minute I try to modify or create a new profile to reset the resolution.
Ideally I'd be looking for 1024x576 and maybe upping the bitrate for video and audio a little.
The problem is that the settings for resolution seem very limited. Changing it to the source resolution doesn't seem to help and the aspect ratio doesn't seem to be able to be changed from 'original'.
Even when leaving the resolution at 'original' and then trying to change the autoresize to 1024x576 doesn't help.
The result is always 4x3 rather than the original 16x9 and there appear to be issues with deinterlacing. Am I missing something? Are there hidden options I'm not aware of?
Thanks in advance.
