Shouldn't I be able to burn compatible files to a CD or DVD and play them on it? I tried some MPG files on my 1GB SD Card the other day and it found them just fine, played ok, but when I burnt them to a DVD, the Xross bar detected it as a data disc, but said there were no files. Do I have to put them in a particular directory?

try a video directory, and you can use the Triangle button to bring up the sub menu (Like right clicking in windows) that will let you see the directory's of the disk.

I tried that. Unfortunately it only gives 2 options: "Copy" and "Information", the latter saying 0 files, 0 KB.

im having the same issue on a dvd+r, i tried a cdr an files seem to show up just fine in the root directory. on the ps3 FAQ it specifically says this should be possible an we need to finalize the disc. i tried some mp3s an pics in the root of the dvd an they didnt show either.

if we make a folder will it show up? then be able to press triangle an get the display all option?
edit: i tired adding all my files into a VIDEOS folder on the disc and doesnt seem to make a difference, we need a "display all" for discs!
i tried an old dvd with some viva la bam episodes in mpeg1 an they show up as soon as i hit x on the disc, the disc doesnt say if it is a dvd+r or dvd-r how is it that the ps3 cant see files on these discs when we know they work fine in anyother method used to transfer?
