I used DVD decryptor to rip a DVD that I own. I then used Videora to convert the .VOB it (i tried both H264 and MPEG) and both times it completes the file and then says it cannot add it to iTunes. I am unable to add it manually either. Here is the log file. Any help would be appeciated.

You neglected to rip an audio track from the DVD.

Thanks for the quick response!!

How do I rip an audio track, i followed the directions on what to check and what not to check in DVD Decryptor and still messed up. Any help??

Midiman
06-02-2007, 06:37 PM
You need to follow the directions more closely. You need to make sure you rip one, and only one audio track. Pay particular attention to step #5.

Failed to add file to iTunes Library

fsujm
06-02-2007, 07:11 PM
The mp4 file that was created will not play in Windows Media Player or QuickTime.
In QuickTime I get an error that reads "Error -2002: a bad public movie atom was found in the movie"
In WMP, it says it doesn't read files of that type (mp4).

Midiman
06-02-2007, 07:57 PM
The problem appears to lie squarely with Quicktime and how it runs (or doesn't run) on Vista. The file you converted will probably play just fine on a 2000 or XP system.

fsujm
06-02-2007, 08:11 PM
Would that cause it not to load into iTunes?

Midiman
06-02-2007, 08:20 PM
Yep. Quicktime is a central piece of how iTunes handles video.

So i got Godfather to work properly, and I even got Godfather Part 2 Disc 1 to work, but then Godfather part 2 disc 2 gives me the same problem. The file rips, and then converts in 45 mins (way too fast) and it won't add to iTunes. Any idea? Here is the log:

Everything looks perfectly normal. What did you do to get Part 1 working? Is that the same thing that wouldn't work when you started this thread?

fsujm
06-03-2007, 10:38 PM
I did everything exactly the same. Today I ripped Part 2 Disc 1, it took about 20 mins and then I converted it took about 3 hours. So then I rip Part 2 Disc 2, took about 20 mins and then it only took 48 mins to convert the file and of course it won't add to iTunes. Same problem as before, can't add it manually either.

I am not sure how to do that. Can you assist?

After installign all this and working on it, Vista now gives me Superfetch and Host Process errors, which I had never gotten before. could this cause my problems? Any ideas why it does this?

Midiman

After "installing all this", what? It's the first time in 16 posts that you mentioned this.

fsujm
06-04-2007, 11:35 AM
this is the first time it happened. All of this is DVD Decryptor, Videora, updates to QuickTime and iTunes.

Im having the same yet a little different problem. I get my content (I'm trying to get Borat on my iPoD) but whenever its converted it's converted and fastforwarded... or it skips. It isnt the DVD either because it runs just fine playing on my computer itself.

Midiman

Borat has been a repeated problem here. The disc probably has aggressive copy protection. Try RipIt4Me.

Wait, I believe I got it... Its working now but I have to convert each file, and the whole movies split up into about 10 different files... is that a usual? And once i get them into my library, how do I get them into my iPoD? Thanks so much!

fsujm

What version of Videora should I use?

kcmckeown
06-04-2007, 06:24 PM
I went to this link http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/guides.html#1000 because when i was converting I would convert all 10-20 files of the movie... And it won't do it in one big file, and it still wont... But what i saw was my Videora is different then the one showing... Mine only gives me the option to "One Click Convert" or "Convert Video" ... No where does it allow me to transcode... Any help please? Been trying to get this to work for a few days now...

kcmckeown
06-04-2007, 06:38 PM
And im positive I did step 4 correct, even when i go back my settings are still on "none" for file sharing... and when i open up to convert it still gives me the a bunch of video files named VTS_ than numbers...

Midiman
06-04-2007, 08:06 PM
There are two places you can set file splitting to none in DVD Decrypter. One for IFO and one for ISO. You should be setting it in the IFO Mode tab of the settings dialog... but then you need to be USING IFO mode to rip with. Doesn't help to set the splitting option for IFO mode and then rip in ISO or File mode.

kcmckeown
06-04-2007, 08:23 PM
So ive been messing with DVD shrink and thats basically burning my dvd onto another cd... which is a waste of time... Is there anyway I can just shrink the files with DVD shrink or another program, because it doesnt seem to with the Decryptor.

Midiman
06-04-2007, 08:39 PM
DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter are two different programs with two different purposes. DVD Shrink evidently has some limited ability to rip DVDs directly (don't really know, never used it for that myself) but it won't work with the vast majority of them because it doesn't remove the standard DVD CSS encryption. That's DVD Decrypter's job. For the purpose of getting a video from your DVD to an iPod, DVD Shrink is 100% unnecessary if you use Decrypter properly.

kcmckeown
06-04-2007, 08:51 PM
Alright well thanks for the info... It's just ive used the decrypter on 3 different dvd's numerous times, and even uninstalled DVD Decryptor and reinstalled and it still gives me tons of video files... So im not quite sure whats wrong, and i made sure it was on IFO and not ISO as well...

Midiman
06-04-2007, 08:56 PM
It has nothing to do with uninstalling/reinstalling anything. YOU are doing something wrong. It's a simple 6 steps to follow.

kcmckeown
06-04-2007, 09:13 PM
FINALLY!! =] I got it... I just simply saved it onto my desktop instead of saving it onto the normal file it had it set to.... thanks!

Midiman
06-04-2007, 10:21 PM
I assume by "got it" you mean... properly converted Borat. Just for the sake of those following along, this entire page of posts has had to do with file splittting with DVD Decrypter... and changing the location in that will not affect anything.

I never endorse the idea of storing ANYTHING in Window's Documents and Settings folder.

fsujm

So I have had no additional luck converting files that can be added to iTunes. I have tried original MPEG as well as with Avisynth.
So I installed Decryptor and Videora on my wife's XP machine. It ripped and converted properly and added into iTunes. So I copied it onto my iPod using the iPod as a disk, put it on my Vista machine (my main computer) but it won't add to iTunes. When I try to open the file on Vista using QT it says bad atom. But that same file will open fine in QT in XP.
I don't really understand. I was able to rip and convert 3 DVDs on my Vista machine and then it just stopped doing it. You would think if it rips and converts properly on an XP machine I should be able to just move the file over wouldn't you?

Midiman
06-05-2007, 12:30 PM
I wouldn't think that at all. There are known problems with either iTunes or Quicktime on Vista.
