I cannot get this video file into my itunes and I have been using an AVISynth profile. Life would be so much better if apple wernt so awkard and made them compatible with avis! I feel that it may be something to do with the sizing of the file but I have no idea as to how to take auto resizing off or to change the size at which it is converted. here is the console for anyone that can help

There's gotta be a problem with the source file, or the way your computer handles it. Can you post the log of the AVISynth conversion?

You can also try AVS Maker (below) - instructions are in the help file.

ok i will try to edit the profile that i am using.

But i am pretty sure that it was an AVISynth profile that i was using because i went into the settings and the profile ended in AVISynth. but maybe there is a problem with the programme or maybe i am not selecting it properly. I will try and this and let you know how i get on. thanks for the help

just one other thing as well then thinking about this problem that I am having. I assuming that it is the height and the width of the converted video that is causing me to experience these problems, what is the best resolution to choose so that these problems dont happen? I am just thinking that if i do this from now on i wont expereince these problems..........

Instructions for resizing to 320x176 for example
If you want to change those resolutions, make sure that the width and height are divisible by 16.

Select the settings Tab , on top
Select your encoding profile.
Click on Edit Profile
Click on the Video Tab
In the autoresize section, uncheck "Enabled".
In the resolution section, write 320 in the width area and 176 in the height area.

I do not believe that the log you provided came from using an avisynth profile.

His source aspect ratio is not appropriate for a 320x176 resize. 320x128 is what it should be. Just because I told someone else to resize to those specs doesn't mean it's always going to be the case.

ye i got that he was just using an example. I think you misunderstood what i was asking. My question was is there a universal aspect ratio that will make every file compatible with itunes and if so is the one you quoted of 320x120 this universal size???

also i have tries to use the 'AVS Maker' and to be honest it is not letting me preview files that i have got into itunes before.

Looking at your original post, I would have to say that the Resolution is not the problem. It was saving as:
Stream #0.0: Video: h264, yuv420p, 320x128, q=2-31, 512 kb/s, 23.98 fps(c)

320x128 is a perfectly fine resolution, in fact, as long as width and height are multiples of 2 and less than 320 and 240, respectively, the video will not have problems due to the resolution.

I see that your video has an error after encoding the first 11 seconds, this is causing the problem:
frame= 283 fps= 33 q=9.0 size= 933kB time=11.8 bitrate= 647.7kbits/s
DELETE: C:\Documents and Settings\Multicentre PE Study\My Documents\Converted Videos\iPod\H264\Casino.Royale[2006]DvDrip[Eng]-aXXo.mp4

How does the video not Preview in AVS Maker, what happens? Be sure you follow the instructions in the help file with How to Convert in Videora. You CANNOT use the Video Wizard when converting from AVS Maker.

sorry mate, i totally take that back, the avs player is working fine and it is a GOD SEND!!!! ive successfully converted the file to my itunes! success!! whatever was wrong with the file or was messing up after the first 11 seconds has disappeared.

I was not using the SLD codec that you recommend people instal. The avs player works fine now, although some files do need to be loaded on a couple of times before the avs maker can decode it and give a preview and recomend the appropriate profile for the file so once again THANKS SO MUCH FOR THAT!!!!!!!

However, (sorry mate!) after installing the SLD codec, i have lost sound when watching tv through my TV stick for digital TV on my computer. Other sound files seem to work fine i.e. windows media files, but i cant seem to get any sound when I am watching TV, I uninstalled the codec and it seemed to work fine, but as soon as I install them again, i dont get any sound on my tv

I know this mite be out of your field of knowledge but any help as always is appreciated as to how i can solve this problem

Thanks mate

Heh, I guess maybe just uninstall the SLD Codec pack??? I never had any problems, but I just started using CCCP a while back and it may work better for you.
