View Full Version : Perfect sound, Low framerate

Hi! I'm hoping I can get some advice on a problem I'm having with the converter. For shorter videos (15min or less is what I've tried so far), the sound and picture are perfect and they play on my iPod wonderfully. When I tried to convert a longer (about 75 min) video from .avi, the sound comes out perfectly synched and clear but the video is very choppy, with about 1 or 2 fps. Here is a log... I have tried converting it with at least 4 different options, and I'm not really sure what the problem is! Thanks.

Mediainfo is correctly pegging your source video at 25fps... but ffmpeg is crunching it down to 2fps for whatever very odd reason. You might try manually setting the framerate...

kisutra
06-08-2007, 09:16 PM
Okay - I attempted to manually set the framerate by creating a new profile (using all the same settings as H264 QVGA 512kbps/128kbps) then going into the video tab -> general 2, then typing in 25fps where it said manual FPS under the 'Avisynth' heading. That change did nothing (still the same 2fps where you pointed it out), so I checked the box marked enabled, again under the 'Avisynth' heading. Then I got this, where the program stop after about 5 seconds:

EXEC: C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\Video Converter\Tools\MediaInfo\mediainfobatch.bat "C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\Video Converter\Tools\MediaInfo\MediaInfo.exe" "C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\Video Converter\Tools\MediaInfo\parameters.txt" "C:\Documents and Settings\T\My Documents\My Videos\Movies\Laloux.Caza.Light.Years.1988.vhsrip. Thanks for your time! I'm hoping I can get this to work with your help before I go on vacation on Sunday, or it's going to be a long and boring plane ride!

Try getting all your files outside of the Documents and Settings area of your hard drive... it's the worst possible place to store almost everything... and try renaming it something sensible... preferably without eleven periods.

File now resides in C:/ and has been renamed to be much simpler.

I've tried editing the profile in the general tab -> resolution -> changing framerate to 25 and running that (gives the same fps as before):

I also tried putting that back to "original" and then going to General 2 -> Avisynth, check 'enabled' and putting 25 into the Manual FPS box. This setting makes it stop after approximately six seconds. (Leaving 'enabled' unchecked gives 2fps with the console looking basically the same as above)

Any suggestions? Am I not changing the framerate correctly? I just downloaded this program today and am very happy with the results of the shorter videos that I've converted to my iPod. Thanks again!

Ah... you have an old, divx4 format file there. I've seen them be problems in the past. You might try an AviSynth profile... or AVS Maker.

Okay, I'm getting AVS Maker right now. Thanks for all your help so far :)
