Sorry for the particularly 'noob' style post title, but i'm just dumbfounded as to what I'm doing wrong if anything here. I'm inputting Xvid TV episodes, usually about 300MB, and they're converting to about a gig in size, but still in the .AVI format. I know AVI is the file format rather than the codec, but I would have imagined it'd come out as a .MJPG or a .MOV or something? Am I right?
So basically, my copy of Wii Video 9 doesn't seem to be working. Could it be that I don't have the correct codecs installed on my system? Or is it something much more obvious and simple?
Thanks in advance!

I'm having the same problem. I'm trying to convert an MPEG-4 file, and it turns into an AVI. I tried another MPEG-4 file which works on my Wii fine, I don't know why this one wouldn't.

Do you mean FLV? I tried that as well, my Wii didn't even recognize it was on the card.

Witch card do you mean Nin10dude? SD-Card?. If you put the .flv file on your SD-Card it won't work, because you don't have a flash player in your photo channel to vieuw that. You got to use your Nintendo Wii with the Wii Media Center to vieuw your .flv files on your Nintendo Wii.I say it because I try it too.

No DarkVamp. You don't have to rename no files. What you must do is only start your Wii Video 9 and set your Encoding Profiles and Settings to FLV 16:9 512k or FLV 4:3 512k and than it will convert your MPEG or AVI files to FLV files. Remember that you must put your FLV files from directory C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\Video Converter\Videos\Wii\FLV in the directory C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\Media Center\software\Video\videos. Because I had the same problem, it don't work in your Wii Media Center. If you don't put the files there.
I hope you understand what I mean.
Good luck!

The next step is simple BeNJ94, just log on on your Opera Wii Browser with your Nintendo Wii with the folow IP http://your IP Adres here:8192. If you are ther just click on My Videos, and than you see your videos. Click on one of teh videos and than it start to play the video in your Wii Media Center.

No problem is all good BeNJ94. The Opera Wii browser, is a browser just like your Internet Explorer, but it is a browser for the Nintendo Wii. If your Wii is connected to the internet than you get an update from Nintendo to downlaod the browser. With Opera Wii browser you do the same you do now on your pc, like surf to other websites, stuff like that, the only thing is you can't download stuff from the internet it won't work. The Opera Wii browser is still now in Beta. Late March 2007 I think you can download the final version of the Opera browser. more info about Opera Wii browser: click here (http://www.opera.com/pressreleases/en/2006/12/22/)

How can I convert an MPEG-4 video with Wii Video 9 into a video my Wii will recognize through an SD card? I tried it, and it makes it an AVI file, which my Wii will not play.

Hi Nin10dude,
To convert an MPEG-4 video with Wii Video 9, you must set your Encoding Profiles in Wii Video 9 to MJPEG 2048kbps. yep, you got always an AVI file when you convert it, but he convert the file with the MJPEG on it, so you can vieuw it via the Photo Channel with your SD-card. Remember the Nintendo Wii can vieuw/play the file only if it is convert with MJPEG.
Good luck!

Sorry about that Nin10dude. I see now that I have convert a .wmv file not a MPEG file :o and that .wmv file convert it in .avi MJPEG works, But I can't try an MPEG file, because I have a 64 MB SD-card. It's not enought for my music videos. Music videos are more than 50 MB and when you convert it with MJPEG the file became larger. I try with my own video that I make in wmv about 1:00 duration, and it works. Nin10dude can you try with a .wmv file, and let me know if it works on your Wii.

I tried a WMV file and it worked fine.. but I still don't understand why my MPEG file won't work. I've converted an MPEG file before and it worked on my Wii...

I have found something Red Kawa have say when he release the software for the first time he say:
The key thing to note here is that the Wii is only capable of playing back Motion JPEG video files. Interestingly enough, the Wii can playback Motion JPEG files in both .mov and .avi containers. This does not mean the Wii will playback any type of .mov or .avi you find on the internet. A lot of .avi movies on the internet are actually MPEG-4 ASP (aka Xvid aka Divx) video files and NOT Motion JPEG. A lot of .mov files on the internet are actually Sorenson, MPEG-4 or H.264 video files and NOT Motion JPEG
For more info about this read his Red Kawa Blog HERE (http://www.redkawa.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13)
So, the thing is that that MPEG file from you doesn't have that Motion JPEG, that's why you can not play/see the video on your Nintendo Wii with your SD-cards
