For Windows User Only:rolleyes:

WARNING: AT YOUR OWN RISK ONLY

For now you can't (may be in the future ??) change the location of media center file :(

You must put all of your music file in:
C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\Media Center\software\Music\music
all of your images files in:
C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\Media Center\software\Pictures\images
etc

So it's boring but Microsoft had done a good thing

When you are under Windows 2000 or XP and you have a hard drive formatted in NTFS you can create softlink, (For people who wants to know what is a softlink, go here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Softlink)

To do that you had to download, a little .exe at microsoft
Here => http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/Junction.mspx

Extract the file and put him at the root of your hard drive ( C:\ ), and open a command line windows and type:

C:\junction.exe "MEDIA_CENTER_DIRECTORY_TO_CHANGE" "DIRECTORY_WITH_YOUR_FILE"

Dont forget the " at the begining and at the end of the path

Example:

C:\junction.exe "C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\Media Center\software\Pictures\images" "C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\My documents\My images"

And now your media center folder are redirected to the folder of your choice

To Sesheron:

You get this error because explorer is open with this folder, close all windows of explorer (Explorer not Internet Explorer)

To Mrmatch

To delete a softlink use the switch -d if you want to know more see the web page of Microsoft all is explain on it

If it's too hard for you to go on the Microsoft Web page, this is what is write on it

If you want to view reparse information, the usage for Junction is the following:
Usage: junction [-s] <directory or file name>
-s Recurse subdirectories.
If you want to create or delete a junction, use Junction like this:
Usage: junction [-d] <junction directory> [<junction target>]
To delete a junction specify the -d switch and the junction name.

Have a nice day:cool:

I junctioned the C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\Media Center\software\Music directory to another drive that houses my MP3's and in windows the map works perfectly, however if I try to browse my music (via PC) it won't display any of my MP3's or the folders that contain the MP3's. Is there any reason for this? Did I mess up my junction? Let me know.

Never mind I figured it out...thats what I get for junctioning at 3am!

anewark: how did you fix it? I'm having the same problem.

I believe the problem is that you are softlinking to a directory (all of your music, cataloged by artist probably) -- and the media center can only see the .mp3 files themselves. Try creating a folder with the .mp3s you want in there, and then softlink to that. I know it's a pain to not be able to listen to all of them (though I suppose you could, you'd just have to drag and drop each folder's mp3s into one folder) but it creates faster load times and a lot less hassle to select your favorite tracks and put them into one folder.

hmmm...well it was no problem for me...I softlinked to my music folder where all artists have a folder of it's own with yet more folders for each album and so forth...no problems at all browsing them with the .mp3-files inside :)

Ok peeps, no laughing ;)

Did a junction, sorted and all works lovely. Was really after pictures and mp3s on my Wii from my shared photos folder, so kinda can see where life is heading - lovely.

Decide that without the slideshow things are a bit pointless (and the slideshow on a PC doesn't cope with different size images) so kinda scrap the idea and think I'll come back in a few months to see development.....

So I uninstall. Oh Sh*t. Part of the uninstall removes the software\pictures\images directory and if you have a junction to your actual pictures (>20000 of them in my case) the software merrily deletes them quicker than I can stop it with a CTRL-ALT-DEL. Now I'm in trouble!

Fortunately I know I have an undelete utility (recycle bin won't help as it is an uninstall not a standard delete). That has about a 50% sucess rate. arrghhhh!!!

Luckily I have located a not too old hard disk with a backup on and a load of memory cards I haven't deleted!

Now I know this is my fault, but it does make me wonder if when developing this, the removal of the images directory should be optional? (ditto for the other directories I guess!)

Really the sensible thing to do is to choose the photos, music and whatever else folders and do not delete them on uninstall.

Anyway, to all out there, take care with that there junction command, make sure you delete the junction before uninstall!

Will post appropriately in associated threads.....
