Hi,

I am trying to use the videora iPod converter with my (old) Pentium 4 (3.20ghz) on a XP pro and I have many problems...
First, videora just crashes when he's converting (but shit happens thanks to XP), secondly when videora has finally convert my video (I use the one-click convert option and my 700mb avi turns to a 40mb mpeg4, is that normal?) I am trying to put it in my itunes library and just nothing happens, no error messages, no video displayed, just nothing.
And when I try to play my converted video with quicktime I get a message saying that my video is not a "fichier séquence" (I don't know how to translate that sorry).
Finally, the proceeded conversion may stop in 5, 10 minutes or even 10 seconds and the program tells me that the conversion is finished.
Thank you for having read my post.

Hey,

Thanks for your quick response, here is what you asked for (I think) :

EXEC: C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\Video Converter\Tools\NicMP4Box\NicMP4Box.exe -itags "Name=QOTSA - History" -add "D:\Denis\Vidéos\Videora\H264\QOTSA - History.mp4-1" "D:\Denis\Vidéos\Videora\H264\QOTSA - History.mp4"

Need to see the whole log... up until it starts encoding frames. For starters, I'd move everything somewhere else... not sure what your D: drive is.. but odd foreign characters (Vidéos) can cause problems.

Ok here you go,

My D: is a partition of my main drive, it's divided into C: for programs and windows and D: is for the files and everything else.

Now you probably want to use one of the AviSynth profiles or AVS Maker.

Alter_Native_

Sounds great but how do I do that ?
Seriously, I'm a recent PC user and I really don't have any clue what you're talking about.
Please develop...

Thanks for the quick answers

To use an AviSynth profile, simply choose one, like the one you used:

H.264 QVGA 768kbps Stereo/128kbps

that ends with the word AviSynth.

AVS Maker can be found here:

Where can I find that?

Hey,

I tryied to download a avisynth processor and it did not work so.......
I re-installed videora to check and change the video to convert, nothing works....
Help...

AviSynth should have been installed along with ViC. Make sure you didn't uncheck the box when you installed ViC.

I have checked by re-installing videora and I still got the same problems. :(

So you can't Preview in AVS Maker? Does the source video play in Windows Media Player?

You may have to install a codec pack like "CCCP"

Alter_Native_
06-11-2007, 08:58 AM
Hey,

Yes, the video won't display in AVS and I'm sorry, I don't have Windows Media Player....
Still the video is well played by Winamp, Media Classic and VLC.
Can you give me a good link to download the codec you presume I need ?
Thanks

msopnet

How can you not have Windows Media Player? I didn't think it was possible to not have it.

Some of these other media players will allow errors in source videos without showing any problems. So the problem may simply be that there's an error, and you can't tell. AVS Maker may help Videora convert through the problem if this is the case.

I don't really get how there can be errors in every video I got ('cause I tried everything through videora) and how will those package codec will help me ?

I think the fact that you don't have WMP may be an issue here. DirectShow (what WMP uses to play videos) is the most stable multilmedia filter I've seen, and AVISynth leverages it pretty well.

Alter_Native_
06-12-2007, 11:14 AM
Hey,

I already been copying a few logs on this post, do you really need a new one ?

That was just his signature - it's added to all his posts.

Alter_Native_

Ok, thanks....

Now I really look like a jerk.... :p

And by the way I have installed the CCCP codecs and it haven't change a thing, plus, I tried to convert video with another program (WinAVI, if you wanna know) and I've got the exact same problem, so the hypothesis that me not having WMP is the source of all my problems scores.
I'm running a modified version of XP pro that does not allow me to install WMP, I tried several times it never worked...

Midiman
06-12-2007, 05:05 PM
To have the same problem with two different programs and decide that your lack of WMP, common to both instances, has nothing to do with it is... illogical. If you don't have WMP... installing codecs for it is also illogical.

Alter_Native_
06-13-2007, 03:08 AM
Ok if my lack of WMP has nothing to do with my problems what should I do ?

I thought you were coming to the opposite conclusion.

Ok if my lack of WMP has nothing to do with my problems what should I do ?
As Midiman said, you haven't proven that it's not a problem.

-- Install WMP (getting help from microsoft if you have to)
-- Get your videos running on WMP (this may require the codec package)
-- Convert the video using an AVISynth

I'm getting a little misunterstood here...
My fault I guess there must have been a misunderstanding because of my english (I'm french by the way).
I wanted to point out that my problem MUST come from my lack of WMP, I'm using WinLSD (don't know if anybody knows about that mod) and it does not allow me to install WMP, if I try to get some help from Microsoft, they might laugh at my face or sent me the cops, won't they ?

Midiman
06-13-2007, 04:27 PM
Never heard of that, it appears to be a "french thing"... but I'm thinking you're kind of out of luck...

Ok,

I got a tutorial on how to install WMP11 on Win LSD 3.5 (my OP), I follow it and now I got that f****** player on my computer, I tried running videos through it, and believe it or not it worked.
BUT still, it does not allow conversions to work (that would have been too easy, wouldn't it?)

OK. In C:\Converted Videos\MPEG4\, there should be an AVISynth file (.avs). Open it in Notepad. Take out the fps parameters, so it looks like the following:

DirectShowSource("D:\Echanblard\Incoming\chansons + clips\QOTSA - History.avi")

Save it, go back to ViC, and convert the .avs file using a profile that does not have 'AVISynth' in it. I know this seems counter-intuitive, but I'd like to see a log from that if it doesn't work.

Alter_Native_

I got no file named .avs in my directory....
Neither in my whole computer

Alter_Native_
06-20-2007, 09:31 AM
As I said before, I tried 2 other converters (3gp and WinAVI) and both didn't succeed, so the problem does not seem to be coming from the converter itself...

Sketch
06-20-2007, 10:40 AM
Got that, but that alone doesn't make it unsolvable (yet).

Try making your own .avs file using Notepad and the code I gave you. Make sure it plays in Windows Media Player.

Alter_Native_
06-20-2007, 11:04 AM
I created a notepad file putting the code you gave me inside and renaming it .avs (instead of .txt), I tried to run it through WMP, it did not work.
I am not following you right now on what you are trying to do (and what you are trying to make me do....:D )

Sketch
06-21-2007, 04:16 AM
If the video itself plays in Windows Media Player, you should be able to covert it using an AVISynth script. I am getting you to create your own script on the fly. This script should also be playable in WMP.

The video itself plays in Windows Media Player, yes?
What happens when you try to play the .avs file? Do you get an error message?

Alter_Native_
06-21-2007, 05:22 AM
All the videos I have been trying to convert are working perfectly in WMP, trying to run the script gets me this error message; "Le Lecteur Windows Media ne peut pas lire le fichier. Il est possible que le lecteur ne prenne pas en charge le type du fichier ou le codec utilisé pour la compression de ce dernier." which basically means wrong codec or wrong file type.

Sketch
06-22-2007, 03:36 AM
But it looks like AVISynth is installed on your machine. Can you post a log of a script conversion please (convert the .avs file in a non-AVISynth profile)? I just want to verify the script filetype.

Hey Midiman it's great to get you back on the post after giving up your help is so important to me....

Sketch

OK, this may have something to do with you not being able to play the .avs script in WMP. All I can suggest is un/re-installing ViC and AVISynth. If you still can't play the script, I'm going to give up on this one. Sorry.

New QotSA = pretty good, but not great. The title track is the stand-out for me at the moment.

The thing you need to also understand here is that your pirated operating system might be a factor here. If you have AVISynth installed, but you can't play the .avs script in Windows Media Player and the text is correct, there's very little I can do for you at this point. I'm sorry.
