Need to convert a 1.94GB file to 1.89GB?

Any ideas please? Its just that I bought a 2GB official wii SD card but its infact only 1.89GB. Annoyingly a movie I wanted to put on is 5 MB too much!

Hi,

Have you try the Wii Media Center?. I was to buy one SD card from 2 GB too, but since Red Kawa has release Wii Media Center, I think I don't gonna buy a 2 GB SD Card. With the Wii Media Center you can view al your convert files throught your Nintendo Wii. Is much better.

Yeah it sounds good but I cannot get my wii to connect to our wireless router since I do not have the WEP code for it :(

This is really insane but I managed to get a 750MB video to about 650MB with dr divx, I ran it through wii9 but it came out exactly the same size (1.94GB) as I got with the 750MB video.

oh oke, sorry If I have a wireless router than I can help you, but I haven't, I have the one with cable. Yeah I know if you convert it with the MJPEG, the size became bigger that it is. The only solution now is to look for someone on this forum that has a wireless router, to explain you how it works, ooh wait, have you has try to connect with the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector?. With that you can connect your wii to the internet. try that and let me know.

No problem, but look the only way to get your Nintendo Wii on the internet trought wireless router is to buy the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector, than it works.

kenman2626,

There are a few things you can do. I would recommend trying to get that wireless going so that you can use the functionality of Wii Media Center X (its pretty cool stuff). Do you know how to get into the admin menu for the router? That should show you what WEP key the network is using. Generally, if your computer IP is for instance 192.158.0.5 then your router would be 192.168.0.1. Just enter that address into your web browser and you can get to the admin menu (if you know the password to it).

If you don't know the admin password on the router, the other option is to reset the router or re-flash the firmware on it. This would reset the router to factory defaults and allow you to get in and set the admin password and setup the wireless. There should be more info in the router manual on this.

The last option is to trim a bit off of the movie (ie, the credits) with a tool like VirtualDub (http://www.virtualdub.org/) and then re-encode it with Wii Video 9 and hopefully it will be under the file size limit of your SD card.

Another option (and, after all my rambling, probably the easiest) is to create a custom encoding profile in Wii Video 9 with lower quality settings than the defaults. With a little trial and error, you should get a smaller file size.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info,

I'm not quite sure how to find out my i.p address but I have managed to click on some network properties where my mum put in her WEP code but I can't see it as obviously it doesn't show characters just dots/stars etc She lost her code ages ago not knowing what it was and tried to get one from telewest and somehow they gave her a 'new password' but I'm sure its not a WEP code and tried it anyway but no success. Same situation with my sister who also got a wii...she doesn't know her WEP code either. Does doing it the IP way show EXACTLY what the numbers/characters are? If so could you please please please explain in steps how to find out what my IP address is?

edit: according to a special webpage my ip is 82.38.104.96 but how do I find out the router address ?

I'm so hopeless when it comes to pc's:(

Oh also, I change settings in wii9 convertor in 'encoding profiles' I change bitrate from 2048 to 1024 and sound from 44 to 22Hz but I still get the same filesize

The IP you got from that "special webpage" is almost certainly your router's external IP address and will not be the one you want to go to to get the admin menu.

To get your ip on windows xp:

Goto Start -> Run
Type 'cmd' (no quotes) hit enter
Type 'ipconfig' hit enter

You will see something like:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.100
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1

"Default gateway" is most likely your router's internal IP address, "IP address" is the IP of your PC.

Really appreaciate your feedback but have trouble understanding the following...

"Generally, if your computer IP is for instance 192.158.0.5 then your router would be 192.168.0.1."

I don't understand how you come up with that answer, it seems my ip address is 192.168.2.1 but I still have no clue how that gives me a number for the router?

Can you paste in the results from running ipconfig and we can tell you what your ip is and what your router ip is.

Can't seem to copy/paste it but here goes...

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Belkin
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.12
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1

kenman2626 this is your IP Adress: 192.168.2.12.
You now just go to your Wii browser and typ this in: http://192.168.2.12:8192
It should work now, let us now.

Oh, You mean that you don't can connect to the internet with your Nintendo Wii?
If you don't can connect to the internet with your Nintendo Wii, than you must have an Wii Nintendo Lan Adapter or an Nintendo Wi-Fi USB (If you have a Wireless Internet).

I think even then you would need the WEP number. I 100% have a wireless connection and just need to find out m WEP code and then I will be able to use it.

yep, Yes I read on this forum about that WEP number thing, but I don't know how exactly that works. because I have a Cable internet connection not a Wirelles. You got to search here on the forum, because I think a lot of people use Wirelles internet here on this forum. Sorry I can not help you further. You must ask them how it works.

Good luck!

I've really been looking into it today and it all boils down to the fact that its impossible to 'find' your WEP key on the pc but you can log into the admin of the router and set a new WEP key.

It just gets better...

Purchased 'wireless wep key password spy' from alpinesnow.com for $50 since it had good reviews. My wep password is.......

oh, its 'unsecured network'. I do however get a promising 'WEP Keys Found On Adapter = ' but this shows even on the demo version of the software. but even then the number/letter combination is about 28 characters long. It won't even fit when I try to type it into the wii.
