This guide is supposed to show people how to install RedKawa's Wii Media Center X on your PC and then run it off of your Wii. It's not too hard, but the documentation just isn't there yet. So! If you are confused, please post in this thread so I can update this original post. Hopefully we'll have a full guide so more users can use this awesome program.
What you will need:
A Nintendo Wii
A PC*
A home network
*I am running . If anyone with a Mac would like to contribue, I'll gladly add to this post.
Step by step:
1. Make sure that your Wii and your PC are running on the same network.
2. On your computer download the version of WMX (http://www.redkawa.com/mediacenters/wiimediacenterx/) best suited for your platform.
3. Run the install program WMX that you just downloaded.
4. Run WMX on your PC. It should run in a small window. You don't need to click any of these buttons.
5. You will see text at the top of WMX, it will say "Media Center is Active" and then list an address. The adress will look something along the lines of:
http://123.123.123.123:8192
Some of the numbers may be different, but there will be four sets of up to three digit numbers (e.g. 1, 127, 64, 255) followed by a colon and 8192. Copy this entire address down on a piece of paper. It's time to move to your Wii.
6. Now you are at your Wii you can start to use a pretty basic version of WMX. Type in the web address we just found. It will only work if WMX is running on your PC.
7. WMX should be up and running on your Wii. You should save this address as one of your favorites to bring it up more quickly. The only thing you need now are Media Center compatable files.
Setting up Wii Media Center X files:
WMX is set up to redirect your Wii Opera Web Browser around your computer. It starts in the base WMX folder (c:\program files\red kawa\wii media center x\... \"media type") for each form of media. So far WMX does not play music, but it does play videos. And most likely you will need to convert your old videos into WMX's FLV file type.
You can use RedKawa's Wii Video 9 (http://www.redkawa.com/videoconverters/wiivideo9/) to convert the videos. Make sure WV9 converts your videos to FLV format and not MPEG and then move the files from the WV9 folder to your Media Center folder.
Open up Wii Media Center on your Wii and enjoy :)
do i drag and drop the videos?

I didn't drag & drop the videos via any special program. I just dragged them from the Wii Video folder to the Wii Media Center folder using just plain old Windows XP.

Hey fivehit, i have some info for your little guide which i think it's awesome and helpful. I'm a user Mac so i guess you need the Mac guide too.
It's a little bit different now with the Mac, but as easy as the Windows XP.
1)First, download the Wii Media Center X for Mac.
2)Unzip the file to uncover a folder with the name "mediacenterx_jar" (or something like that)
3) Open this new folder and take EVERYTHING out, and put it inside your USER folder, which will probably have another name other than USER because when you first used your Mac, you put some fancy name or something. In my case my USER folder name is DanielR. The folder is found inside the Macintosh HD.
4) Once you put all that stuff there, leave it there, and go to the Applications Folder (Shift + Command + A) on the desktop.
5)OK now you have that folder opened, now look for another folder called UTILITIES
6) Inside UTILITIES, look for the TERMINAL application. Ok this little thing works like the "RUN" application in a Windows, for those of you who are familiar with that one.
7) Now open the readme text file from the wii media center file you downloaded. There will be instructions on what you have to put in that new Terminal window you just opened. Just copy and paste it.
8) After you copy and paste it, just hit enter and some codes will appear. Don't panic, it's ok. For me it showed something like an error at the end, but i didn't mind and for the sake of curiosity i just COPY and PASTED the WII MEDIA CENTER WEB ADDRESS that will appear in the terminal window. This address will look familiar (probably) because it has your IP Address. Copy that, paste it in your web browser to test it, and it the Media Center address should appear.
9) Just open the Wii Oper Browser and copy that same address in your Opera Browser and voila.
ALSO!!!!! (hehe, trying to take your attention here)
"How do i put music pictures and other stuff?" Pretty simple, just go to your USER Folder, and look for the folder named SOFTWARE, there will be the MUSIC, VIDEOS, PICTURES folders. The rest is pretty obvious.
In case the web page doesn't open, try to go to your System Preferences and there go to SHARING
Try checking PERSONAL WEB SHARING in case that it is unchecked.
ENJOY! =)

The Mac guide worked perfectly. One question though. What can I delete out of my User folder and keep this working? If I have to keep these files and folders, I would want to keep them in a separate folder so I know what they are. Any help on that one?
Also, does the terminal have to remain open in order for this to work? Then when we close the terminal, must we open it again the next time we wish to use this?

I tried your pc guide but when I put in the IP address on the wii, teh browser just sits there.
Don't forget to add the extension! It's ":8192" and you put that right after your own IP address.

Hey,
When I convert the MPG and MPEG files into FLV...what do I do?
Do you click on the Library tab then click on the movie file and drag it to the My Videos?
I did all of this except it won't let me put the video into the My Videos file...do you know what I should do?

To put FLV files into the Media Server, you have to dig into, I think it is the "Core" area? Look for Videos as a subfolder. Under there you will find the example FLV files included with the software. Dropping them there should work.
The real question is... has anyone ever gotten a file longer than 5 minutes to play through without freezing? So far, Media Center can't get past this point because it is purely a progressive player not a streaming player.
For the Wii, this doesn't work since the internal memory saturates so quickly. I found a solution, but it required me to scrap the Wii Media Center X and go with a less pretty interface.
I'll post my findings next.

@Mike321,
When you type your IP address into your Wii, make sure you are using the correct Port for it. I am having to reinstall to see what port it installs on automatically.
If it is any port other than 80, which is the default web port, you will have to put in the full path: http://192.168.0.51:8192
This is an example IP address, you need to know your exact IP in order for it to work and, by default, the WMCX uses 8192 as the port. You can tack the port on by using the above method. :8080 would hit port 8080. :8192 would hit port 8192.
Hope this helps.
