Hey I just bought my iPod video today and I wanted to try out the video part of the device, I downloded the Videora iPod Video Converter but everytime I try to convert a video my computer freezes.

It's always around 60-68% and thats it, then I have to restart my computer and this really isn't funny =).

Does anyone have any ideas on why this is happening?

Thank you in advance.

PS. I tried to download a few files from YouTube using Ares Tube and they worked but the quality was very poor.

I really don't know what to do.

Could we get a console from the start of your conversion, please?

Try uninstalling the program, then reinstalling. Also, I don't recommend YouTube format FLV video as the best place to start even if it's been converted to something else first.

I reinstalled the program but it's the same thing everytime. Could it be something else on my computer that is causing this?

It's just so wierd because when I tried converting a few YouTube videos yesterday it first didn't work at all, everything just froze up. Then after a few hours everything worked fine, and now it doesn't work at all again.

Reinstalling was the second step I mentioned. Did you try the first? Uninstalling? And, like I said, YouTube video is funny stuff. It's very hit and miss. There are a bunch of different encoders that can produce it and they all do it slightly differently.

No uninstalling diden't work either. It doesn't matter if I try a YouTube file or a avi, mpg, or anything else. Always the same result.

You may have other computer issues.

So you can use Videora just fine, the problems only happen after you start converting?

I'm guessing your computer is having some problem with ffmpeg (the program Videora uses to actually convert).

Try this: After starting a conversion, on the left of the Videora screen, you should be able to select the Process Priority (it should start at "Normal"). Try changing that to low.

If that doesn't work, ffmpeg may be heating up your processor too much, you could possibly try underclocking your processor (there are free programs that do this, but I don't know of any, so you can just google it). Or you could try another processor intensive program and see if that causes your computer to freeze.

Yes I can use it fine before I press the convert button.

I checked the temp. of my CPU while trying to convert but it can't be an overheating problem because it only went up about 2 degrees.

I also tried switching the priority to low but no luck there either.

If it is a ffmpeg problem then what can I do about that? I really want this fixed, whats the point with a iPod Video if you cant use the video part :)

Is there another sofware I could try instead of Videora to see if it works then? If you have any good suggestions I would appreciate it.

See if one of the commercial products (like cucusoft) has a demo version you can download from.
