I am trying to convert a 1080p quicktime trailer for playback on my PS3. I am using a profile I created myself. Every time I try to do a conversion it immediately says "Conversion Complete" and displays this in the console:

EXEC: C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\Video Converter\Encoders\Video\FFmpeg_6830\ffmpeg.exe -y -i "C:\Documents and Settings\Taylor\Desktop\300-tlr1b_h1080p.mov" -f mp4 -title "300-tlr1b_h1080p" -timestamp "2006-12-29 06:00:10" -vcodec h264 -level 40 -coder 1 -g 250 -s 1920x1080 -b 768 -bufsize 768 -qmin 0 -qmax 0 -qscale 0 -acodec aac -ac 2 -ab 128 "C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\Video Converter\Videos\PS3\MPEG4-AVC\300-tlr1b_h1080p.mp4"

Is this a problem with my settings, or does PS3 Vid 9 just not like quicktime? If anyone can help it would be MUCH appreciated. I am also interested if anyone knows of a place to get HD content that IS convertible for playback on the PS3.

I'm having the same problem with AVI files. No matter what profile I choose it goes immediately to completion. I did adjust things like bitrate, resolution etc so, like you, don't know if it's due to this or something rooted in the program itself.

I keep thinking there is some small button or step I'm missing that would make the difference. If I don't get answers soon or am able to figure it out myself, I'm going to buy a converter program called MP4 Converter here. http://www.mp4converter.net/ps3-video-converter-guide.html

I have actually downloaded and tried a trial version of MP4 converter. I can't get it to convert Quicktime HD either, unfortunately. It works with an AVI, but all of my AVI's are not HD content to start out with, so not much good to me. I will continue to experiment with both, but I definitely like PS3 video 9 better as far as options and customization go. If I could find some more HD content in formats besides Quicktime and WMV HD I would have more to go off of, but as for now, I do not!

Ok the quantizer box need to not be 0. Or you need to go to CBR in mode and set a bitrate. An other note. If you have Content that is 1080 you should not need to set the resolution you should be able to leave it as 0x0, Now if you are trying to do upscaleing in your computer of no 1080 content then havening those settings is fine. I don't know how well FFmpeg works doing that.

It seems no matter what settings I use when trying to convert quicktime HD trailers that I get an error. The console prints the following repeatedly after several seconds and it says "CONVERSION COMPLETE":

ERROR 1000 - System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Value of '-2147483648' is not valid for 'Value'. 'Value' should be between 'minimum' and 'maximum'.

Has ANYONE figure out how to do this yet? If so, please post the specific settings that you used. I would really appreciate it!

I went through a few converting programs before I found one that works. I had video and sound problems when I converted Spiderman 3 (HD 1080p) and 300 (HD 1080p) from mov to mp4. Fantastic 4 (HD 1080p) would not even convert. I finally found this program, MPEG_Streamclip_1.1, to convert Fantastic 4. When I ran it on Spiderman 3 and 300, the problems went away. The only change I made from the default was after selecting my movie to open and selecting to export to MPEG-4, I changed the auto to 48kHz.
