Hi guys,

Sorry if this thread has been done to death before but I couldn't find any threads on it after doing a search.

I was wondering how I could convert a .mkv file to a .mp4 file using Videora while retaining the subtitles. Is it possible using Videora or do I need to use something else? If I need to use another program, would someone enlighten me to the best or easiest one to use on a converted .mp4 file?

Thanks in advance.

I have been looking for a solution to this problem as well.

Seems it may be possible to hard code the subtitle stream into the video stream and remux using VirtualDubMod or mkvtoolnix but can't work it out.

Anyone have an answer?

have just read a post about using virtualdub and a plugin which may allow to hard code the subs onto the original mkv file.

Subtitler - Sub Station Alpha v2.x/4.x subtitling plugin for VirtualDub

What does this filter do?
=========================
The "subtitler" filter is designed to draw text onto video. As its name
implies, this functionality is usually used to subtitle video that is in
a foreign language. Subtitler is designed to generate crisp, high-quality
text with a minimum of fuss.

Currently, the script format is compatible with the Sub Station Alpha (SSA)
program by Kotus, which at this time is available for free from:

Going to take a look at it later

if youre using mkv, usually it'll encode the subtitles with the video. At least it does on my comp.

if you need an Avisynth script that should get the job done, PM me later tonight and ill test it.

Convert the file to mp4, then use mkvmerge to add the subs, I find that only sub/idx, srt or ssa subs work. .ASS files do not. Use URUSOFT's Subtitleworkshop to convert your unsupported subs to SRT. (SUBRIP)

The only issues I notice besides the lack of formatting in srt files, is that the xbox 360 does not allow any control over font size or placement.
