Ok so I was looking into FlowPlayer (for those who don't know this is the flash player wii media center x is currently using), and it seems that there are multiple "flavors" of it, so to speak. There is the standard edition, LONG PLAY EDITION, and a light edition or something of the sort.

reference: http://flowplayer.sourceforge.net/howto.html#editions

After downloading the flowplayer myself from a link at their site, it seems to inlcude swf files for all 3 versions. When I was going through the directory of the wii media center, I saw that the file it was using for the flowplayer was flowplayer.swf, while the Long Play edition, (in the zip that I downloaded) is called flowplayerlp.swf. Could it be that the reason for our videos always stopping short was a simple oversight of the long play edition and only the regular or "vanilla" edition is currently being implemented? I could be completely off base here but I was just wanting really bad to solve this mystery and thought I would post my findings/thoughts.

Can't wait for fully working video streaming support in the future! Keep up the great works guys!! ^_^

I'm guessing the buffer of the Wii is full after several megabytes with progressive download. To avoid this, old video data need to be discarded after playing. To do this, the player needs to be a streaming one instead of a downloading one. This unfortunately also means we need some sort of stream server (i am not a flash expert :)).

http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/flv_download_04.htmlI tried a few large movies on google video and they work almost without problems. But the problems that I'm having with this media center I'm also having on other computers so doubt myself that the problem is with the Wii.

the problem is certainly not the wii, since I can watch 30min long tv shows on various flash streaming sites on my wii with no problems.

I can't seem to get through a 10 min video without it stopping on me.

I've got a video encoding right now, with ffmpegX, that's 23 minutes long. Once it's finished and I test it I'll update this post and let you know how it went. The FLV is going to be 320x180, with a 200kbps bitrate, 29.97fps, mp3 audio, 22050Hz, 56kbps. We'll see how well it does. :)

Edit: I tried out the video earlier, and sure enough it cuts short... I wasn't really paying attention to timing, but it seemed to be approx. 10 mins. or so into the video. Really sucks...

I just re-encoded an HD video trailer into an FLV... the size was approx. 624x272, and the bitrate was set at 1000kbps. The playback on the Wii was VERY jittery. Probably a comination of the video size being relatively large and the bitrate being so high. Everything else that I've tried that has a size of 320x240 or so, and lower, and a bitrate of 200kbps or lower seems to work just fine, though.

The actual quality of the movies is very poor, though. Probably has to do with the FLV codec itself. It'd be nice if the dev team could find a nicer alternative for the movie playback, lol.

I dont know if this is just my wii but, I noticed that the load bar only goes 25% of the way no matter how large the video i load i dont know if this has any significance but i think it may relate to the videos not fully playing

Also i noticed it may stop sooner but it wont go any further than 5 minuts
