I managed to convert an Xvid video over to my PS3 and it plays just fine. The only issue is that i only get the top half of the subtitles. How do i fix this?

I am guessing you have a CRT tv. there is this wonderful thing called over scan where up to 10% of the image can be off screen and your tv still be considered ok.. that is why nothing interesting foes on the edges of a tv screen. Most tv's are not as adjustable as computer monitors so you can alter the screen so the image fits. The PS3 doesn't seem to have controls yet to adjust how it puts the video image on the screen. And to keep from being to intrusive most people who add hard subtitles try to have them at the edges. when you add all that up you get a bad setup.
Now I have made the suggestion once to add the padding function to the encoder setup so you can add black space to your video image to bump the video into frame. but that hasn't happened yet. it is possible to get around but it takes experimentation and some knowledge of video tools like Virtual dub to make a avi video with a padded pictures to give to Video 9 to convert to mp4.
I have the same problem but it was off the right and left edges but I was watching a wide screen anime. I think the main reason it is being ignored is that some people think that if you have a ps3 you should have a 1080p tv.
