Hi To all

Heres my story.i beleive to have the newest update(spring update)as it staes my version of dashboard is 2.0.5759 which on looking on the net states this is the newest.I dont have access to xbox live and so i went onto xbox.com to make a data disc of the newest update.when i put this into my xbox i doesnt do anything, just states its a data disc and doesnt auto update as stated(which makes me think i have the newest version due to a new game i played ask me to update).I have used vidoera to convert an avi file to mpeg 4 480p which made a mp4 file as did when i used the 720p h264 convert, both came up on my data disc but when i pressed play the xboax stated i needed to update on live and reboot( i dont have live)Then i tried converting with mpeg 2,which made a mpg file that the xbox didnt even recongnise on a data disc.so to stop my wasting a whole spindle of dvd discs i wondererd if anyone could help me with my problem. Thanks peeps:)

If you were on LIVE even after downloading the Spring update the first time you play a MP4 you are prompted to download an additional support file.

Not sure how you would get it but you will have to get it to play MP4

i'm having the same problem. i'm trying to play both mp4 and h.264 files from a portable flash drive (which has worked for wmv files) and i get an message stating "a media update is required to play this content" and tells me to conect to xbox live to get the update. i don't have live! hopefully microsoft customer support can help me bypass this?
