When is apple announcing a new iPod?

Anyone know when will there be a new ipod player? Creative has alreay announced a new zen player at http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/simply-zen/new-creative-zen-looks-good-and-has-good-price-294059.php

This player was said to have support for non protected aac files from itunes too.

There is a special apple event on sept. 5th.
There are rumors about them releasing a widescreen/touchscreen video ipod with osx.
There is also a rumor and some leaked shots of a new ipod nano aka ipod nano "phatty", where the ipod nano has 2.3' screen (5.5g video screen is 2.5') and a nano clickwheel.
