I get a really, really weird FFMPEG crash whenever I use x264. MPEG4 is fine.

Yeah... well. None of us got a peak at 3.0 so it's going to take us a day or so to get reaclimated with things. Good luck. You're riding by the seat of your pants like the rest of us. I don't even have it yet.

This is a very odd error as it occurs on some machines and not on others. We are able to convert H.264 on our main development machines (XP) fine using the version of ffmpeg included in v3. However, when we tried to convert to H.264 on a friend's PC we ran into this exact issue. What's even more odd is that MPEG-4 conversions run fine on these "problem PCs" as rofish stated.

We are currently looking into the problem.

rofish:
Just to confirm, when you ran ffmpeg.exe on its on, did you get the exact same error as when you ran Videora iPod Converter?
Also, what type and model of CPU is in your computer?

I have the same problem. I'm at work so I can't post a log file but I was using the iPod 5G profile. I tried several older versions of ffmpeg and it appears to me that the versions that have the dll are causing the problem (for me anyway).

I have a homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ CPU, ASUS 8AN SLI-Deluxe Mobo, 2GB RAM, Windows XP SP2.

Yes, I get the exact same FFMPEG crash on Videora and when run on it's own.

CPU: AMD Opteron 175 (dual-core)

Also, it took me quite awhile to find it, but the old version of iPod Convertor, 2.25, works just fine.

The same issue happens with the Xbox 360 converter, too. Also, people seem to be posting on the PS3 forums about the issue. Is there some way of using the iPod fix, or do we have to wait for a platform-specific fix?

Congrats on fixing it for iPods so quickly, though.

Hey all,
ok I'm very new here(go easy on me please...lol) ....like others I'm not here to vent or whinge...
Just want to let you guys know that I too am getting a massive 100%cpu useage on my second machine due to ffmpeg.exe being overly greedy on cpu useage, ok my second pc is only an AMD 3200+ 2gigram gt6600 gpu XP sp2...but like the previous post I am running 3.07, and from all reports it was sposed to be reslolved in 3.01....
Ok I have itunes installed on my good gaming pc
E6850 intel cpu
asus p5k deluxe wifi mobo
4 gig corsair XMS2 6400c ram 4,4,4,12
ino3d gt8800 overclocker
thermaltake toughpower 850 watt psu
Will be running it on this computer shortly will let you guys know the results..

Basically I am converting Avi files(approx 700meg each file) for the newer ipod nano 4 giggers(wifes lil machine)
Just wondering if its a cpu based error coming from under powered cpu'S although i did notice 1 guy with an e6600 getting the dramas....any more ideas
