I had posted this question before, but I was unaware that you shouldn't post in "someone else's" thread. So here's my thread.

I just recently found out about Videora, and when I encountered some problems, I found this site. I was wondering why I keep getting the Error Code, what am I doing wrong?

Here's my log.

Hmm... dunno, But there are two things I don't like.

Output #0, mp4, to 'C:\Documents and Settings\bob.UPSTAIRS\My Documents\Converted Videos\DC.mp4-1':
Stream #0.0: Video: h264, yuv420p, 352x240, q=2-31, 2048 kb/s, 29.97 fps(c)

#1: That extra period.
#2: Your output resolution

Any suggestion on what the resolution should be?

The aspect ratio is 1.33... that means 320x240.

(Divide 320 by 1.33... funny how that works...)

Thanks for the help, but dang you're response are just full of sarcasm. I didn't know that the aspect ration was 1.33 (Is that for the iPod Touch as well?)

First of all, I applaud your typo!

I didn't know that the aspect ration ...

You have NO idea how many times I have to check myself when I type that word because it seems natural for ME to type it the same way you did... and I DON'T always catch it.

Yes. I'm a sarcastic SOB... if you walked in my shoes, you would be too. But you would be "working on it"... the same way I am.

I haven't looked at the new widescreen iPods yet, So I don't know what the "native" screen resolution is.. Imagine that. I don't know something... who would figure? What I know is this...

The logs aren't written in greek. If you read through them, certain things keep popping out (in ways totally unrelated to the ton of email I have gotten recently). Not that you should have to read them. I make it a strange sort of mental exercise. Yours said, in part:

VideoWidth=352
VideoHeight=240
VideoAspectRatio=1.339

The important thing there... is the aspect ration (pun intended). If you apply the simple equation I last quoted, you find that things don't add up!! The "can of worms" I could open here is enormous... so I'm not going there just now... but...

352/1.33= 264... WTF??? Should be 240, we're off by 24 pixels... what happened??

This is what is termed as an mpeg anomaly. MPEG specs require weird things that take a room full of broadcast graphic engineers to really figure out.

What's important is the aspect ratio.. that's what tells the display device to print the picture in the ratio that was originally intended. The tradition iPod has a display that measures 4:3. That's 4 "units" across by 3 "units" tall. What's a "unit"? Good question... best answered by Bill Cosby.

4:3
hmmm
4/3=1.33... damn... it's gettin' scary now!

and, sick as I am, I'm getting tired just thinking about it. I will continue if you would like. Botton line: it's all math. Really simple math. Here's the important thing to know. The iPod "classic" screen... has a width of 320 pixels... everything else is relative.
