Hey I'm new to this software and was having some difficulty converting a movie file to mpeg-4 (ps3 format). I opened the program then went to Convert > Convert Video > (located my file) > then Start. My problem was right after I clicked the Start button, it took no longer then three-seconds to convert and once completed successfully the page just pretty much stood there. Do I have to re-save the file after converting? Does it do it on it's own? It didn't seem like the original file had any effect because the ps3 still didnt read the file. Im trying to convert an .mpeg so it's PS3 compatible which would be .mpeg-4. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks In Advance,
- David

It sounds like you're having the same problem as myself and others, in that when START is depressed you see nothing on the progress bar and the job says Completed. You look in the Video Output Folder and see a file 0 KBS in length.
If all that rings true then it's my belief that the codex used on the file contained in your mpeg file is not being recognized by the PS3 Video9 program and is not able to convert. The reason for the program going almost immediately to completion has been asked more than once on this board but Red Kawa never offers an opinion or even replies.
To determine if your program run is erroring off go to Convert>Console tab and check Enable Console. Insure the Console is empty, if not clear it. Run the program again, go back and see if anything is in the Console. If the program found something it did not like, you will find detailed data that most of us can only guess as to what is wrong.

Thaks for the detailed reply I appreciate it,
I tried Checking the Enable Console than ran the scan another time and it did the same thing. I guess this software isnt like I heard it is. Do you know any other softwares that would be able to convert .mpeg formats so it's compatible with the ps3?
Thanks Again,
- David

The objective of enabling the console was not to fix the problem and somehow make it convert where it wouldn't before but to see if it was erroring off. When the program can't run it places detailed data in the console to aid programmers/analysts in resolving the conflict.
It's not free but take a look at MP4 Converter at
http://www.mp4converter.net/ps3-video-converter-guide.html
I have not tried it yet but it was recommended to me. It has a trial period. If you decide to try it please stop back and give me some feedback on what you think and if it was able to convert where this one didn't.
By the way, where did this file come from, out of a camera possibly?

Yea I'm trying to convert a video clip so it would work on the ps3 but it's difficult to find the right converter. I heard about that software it seems as if it will do the job but the trial version restricts you on converting files. It limits you to only being able to convert a movie file thats smaller then five-minutes or so. But yes you do have to register for it. Well I'll keep trying if I find any softwares for it I'll post it up. Thanks for all your help!

I think this one has the same limitations but I believe is better, MPEG_Streamclip_1.1. The one mentioned above would not convert an HD movie trailer I had where MPEG_Streamclip_1.1 would.
