WHAT the heck is "half screen"???? And, are you aware that there are different iPods out there with different screen sizes? How would I know what's full screen on yours?

> create new or edit a profile
>in the video tab, find the crop section in one of the sub-tabs
> in the crop section enter value '50' for top, bottom, left and right
>go to general tab (the main one)
>in the encode section, enter value '10' in the encoding duration field = this will let you test the value you used in the crop section. start converting the video using this profile - it will take a few seconds - when the converted file is done open it or drag to itunes and sync to the iphone to see if the cropping is acceptable, if not, change the values for the cropping section again and repeat until you find the right value.
when you find the right crop value, don't forget to change the encoding duration field to the total amount of time for the source video.

If you really want to convert wide to full screen, there's no need to heavy handedly lop anything off the top or bottom.

cropping all sides of the video gets rid of the black bars and maintains the videos aspect ratio the left and right parts are cropped too. the iphone's screen is already too small and the black bars make it even smaller. heres a minute of video from harry potter...without the black bars.

That depends entirely on the aspect ratio of the original video source. Most 16:9 video on DVD doesn't have black bars at the top or bottom... wider ratios will. And he didn't specify a DVD... he said a video file... most all of which have already had letterboxing removed. And, by evenly lopping off the same number of pixels from all sides... you haven't changed the aspect ratio... You would want to lop more off the sides than the top/bottom. How much depends entirely on the file in question.

i guess your right. i compared the video i cropped and the dvd source and the people in my video look skinny and stretched.

What the heck kind of a post was that?
this is the videora IPHONE Converter topic section of the forum isn't it? I don't know why you wouldn't know what is full screen on fromsheffields iphone. Are you aware that if someone had an IPOD and not an IPHONE he wouldn't post here?
nice way to reply to a new member. i guess this post was his first and last. way to go. nice one.
i don't think he will ever come to this forum again to check on his thread after the way you replied to him. way to treat new members.
