I am trying to convert one of the 720p .mkv files I have to .mp4 with the xbox 360 converter. I am using the H264 720p profile but I tried with a bunch of them just to see it it worked but I got the same problem with them all. When I click convert it says converting and then it stops as if it is done. On the output folder I just have a 0kb .mp4 file with the same filename as the source. Other videos convert fine though (except for .divx files cause it doesnt recognize them).
I am pretty sure I have the right codecs installed, I can play the video just fine.
I wonder if anybody out there can me with this problem? I would really like to play this movie in HD on my 360!!!
Please!!!!:) :)

it could be the audio, I have had some problems with ac3 not being seen as ac3 but mp2 which I was able to fix by seperating the tracks with mkvextract, ac3>ac3 in besweet then muxing the fixed audio back to the video in mkvmerge. Also .dts audio is not recognised at all maybe thats the problem. AVInaptic is a good program for finding info on mkv files, grab it from here

Idk what any of it means... do you think you can give me instructions on how to do it the way you did?
I extracted the .h264 track and the .aac track (video and audio I think?) with mkvExtract but when I try to used the .h264 file with Videora it says it is converting but it just sits there.
Please help, I really want to figure this out. :)

again I do not know what this means, but I do see the word ignoring a lot in this.

I could be wrong but it looks like ffmpeg doesnt like the audio file, extract the streams with mkvextract, load the ac3 file in besweet and convert it to 2 channel ac3, remux the besweeted ac3 file with the extracted h264 file using mkvmerge (remember to input the correct framerate by clicking on the video stream and putting it in one of the tabs) then run the converter again and see if that helps.

yeah but I think the whole problem is it is not an ac3 file, it is aac. And I cannot find anything to convert it.

besweet should be able to convert aac to ac3, also google aac to ac3 gives this as the first hit
