View Full Version : Convert to TV Show Instead of Movie?

I'm not quite sure if this is even a Videora issue or not, but I figured it's worth a shot.

I am using Videora iPhone Converter, and it seems to work just fine. I've successfully converted videos, and as "Movies" they play just fine.

However, I was hoping to also turn TV episodes into "TV Shows" within iTunes. I was figuring it would be as simple as changing the type from Movie to TV Show.

However, after I do this, it seems like the video no longer works in iTunes or the iPhone. In iTunes, it seems to be playing but no video or audio shows. When I play it on the iPhone, it goes black for a few seconds and then returns to the episode list.

I did notice that after I change the type to "TV Show" and fill in the details (show name, episode number), iTunes gives a "writing tags" dialogue that seems to hang up, which I stopped by hitting the "Stop" button. But it didn't seem to cause a problem in and of itself, as the file was moved over to the TV Shows section with the show title and episode names I put in.

Any ideas on this? I assume I'm just doing something stupid. I don't mind just doing everything as Movies, but for organizational purposes it would be nice to be able to turn TV episodes into TV shows as well.

Thanks!

If you change the type to TV Show, you have to enter a "name" for the show. You don't neccessarily need episode numbers or titles... but the show name has to set.

Do you mean the "Name" field in the "Info" section? If so, I have that - the Name is just the name of the filename (what Videora set).

And I set the "Show" field, Season Number field and Episode Number field.

But it seems like something is getting stuck when I do this - I notice that when I do the initial change, it gets stuck "Writing Tags" and the only way to unstick it is to click "Stop".

But after that, it seems like the video becomes unplayable (and the preview in iTunes turns to white).

Never mind.

I decided to give this another try, but just let it sit on the "Writing Tags" dialogue.

It turns out I only needed to let it wait 1-2 minutes, and it completed, and the file showed up properly as a TV show after that.

Everything's cool.

However, I am still curious if there's a way to tell Videora that a show should be converted as a TV show (and define show title, episode number, etc.), to save the step of having to change these things within iTunes.

The Videora files definitely set to "Movie" type by default. Having to change them one-by-one is, to put it bluntly, a pain. Not only that, if you change the type to "TV show" in iTunes, it will move into "TV shows" from "Movies". BUT, if you remove that file from your library, then re-add it, it defaults back to "Movie", even if you added episode information. This REALLY sucks - I use one machine for processing, but then move things around. Videora really, REALLY needs a "TV show" type setting.
