Videos not working

Well i converted my avi to a flv and put it on my media center and when i try to view it nothing comes up i click on the icon under videos it just sits at a black screen. but when i look at it on my computer it works fine.

I wasn't aware PS3 could play flv files. According to the manual these are.

The following types of files can be played under (Video).

Memory Stick Video Format
MPEG-4 SP (AAC LC)
H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Main Profile （AAC LC）
MPEG-1 (MPEG Audio Layer 2)
MPEG-2 PS （MPEG2 Audio Layer 2, AAC LC, AC3（Dolby Digital）, LPCM）
MPEG-2 TS (MPEG2 Audio Layer 2)

When you say you put it on your media center, are you saying you copied it to PS3 and tried to play it from there or am I not understanding?

no i put it under the ps3 mcx folder where it tells you to put it.

I see what you mean. I created an flv file then located it using the PS3 browser in the appropriate flv output folder. I couldn't figure out how to make it play either and when I simply clicked on it, it gave me the Insert Storage Media At The Save Destination notice (invalid PS3 file).
It doesn't appear there's any way that PS3 MCX can play flv files. It's either a bug or a mis-representation of what MCX is capable of.
