Here is a screen shot of my settings that seem to be working so far for FQ-VBR set at 25. I've set the resolution to 720x480 because I don't like waiting for about 6 hours for my DVD's to convert while testing. I could use a smaller clip but I like doing the whole movie. Sometimes you don't notice audio desync until way into a movie. At 1280x720 it estimated at around 6 hours to go. At 720x480 it's about 2 1/2 to 3. I'm trying to go for less blocking on the movie compared to CBR at 1024 or 768.
When I use 3GP_Converter for my PSP movies I like an VBR setting of 25. It gives pretty good picture to size and so that is why I chose it for this. I'm doing Hellboy if anyone wanted to know. It's got slow scenes, fast scenes, dark ones and light ones. That and my boys like it. The advanced Custom Flags are thanks to XerXes. I like when my processor is at between 70 and 80 instead of 50.
My tv is a 42" plasma that can do 720p or 1080i. I prefer 720p. That is why when I go to bed tonight or play some more games before 24 comes on I'll do this experiment again at 1280x720. I prefer the bigger size instead of zooming or otherwise expanding a 720x480 picture. Comment or let me know what luck you've had with some of these settings as well.
