I had been using 4.0 classic converter without any problems and now I download the 4.2 upgrade. The message you see below is what I see each time I try to run the program after I download it. I have deleted the software from the control panel in Windows Vista and I have deleted it from the program folder. Of course I restart my pc after I delete the software. The software downloads without any problems but each time I try to run it, the same error message is shown. I am certain that I have 4.0 completely removed before I install 4.02 and that I'm following all of the proper steps to install the software. If anyone can help me out, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks Red Kawa, your solution fixed the problem for me. Even though I had uninstalled the program, I still had xml files that had to be removed. Thanks for your help!!

Which I understand is the same as the above poster, but I am still having trouble with the install. After I uninstall through the Control Panel>Uninstall, there are no such files as:

C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\Video Converter App\Profiles
C:\Users\USERAME\AppData\Red Kawa\Profiles.

What now? Thanks in advance.

I spoke too soon. I still have the same problem. Funny thing is that after I did the fresh install, I was able to run the program. After I closed the program and then started it back up, that's when I run into the same problem. Even though I am downloading the latest version from the website, when I open the program from the icon in my taskbar, it still says that I have version 4.0. That would be okay for me but 4.0 is not running correctly. I know that I deleted any/all versions before doing the fresh download. I don't know what else to do.

I did find the XML files that has the lower case P, but once I re-install is puts it back just as it was before. I guess I am not completely understand the process I should be using. Would someone mind walking me through it step by step.

Thanks again

What Operating System are each of you using?

We are not quite sure why those lower case xml files are showing up. Whenever we test the installer it works fine and creates the proper profile files.

----

We recommend that you clean any traces of the current installation:
- Uninstall the program from the Start Menu/Control Panel
- Delete the C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\ if for some reason it still exists
- Delete C:\Users\USERAME\AppData\Red Kawa\if for some reason it still exists
- Delete C:\Users\USERAME\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Progra m Files\Red Kawa\

Next, download re-download the file from our website. The setup file should end in "-402-setup.exe", if it does not, you are running an old installer. When you click on the installer, make sure it says "4.02" in the installer window.

Before you run the software for the first time, go to the C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\Video Converter App\Profiles\ directory and check each xml file to see if any have a lower case p where it says ProfileList (Line 2).

If you find that there is a lower case p, please post which filename has this. Please check all xml files.

If all of them have capital P's, then run the program and see if you get an error. If you do, post the contents of the error here. Press Ctrl+C at the message box to copy the contents.

If you encounter the same error, please go to the C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\Video Converter App\Profiles\ directory and the C:\Users\USERAME\AppData\Red Kawa\Profiles and check each file for lowercase p's. If you find that there is a lower case p, please post which folder path + filename has this. Please check all xml files.

If everything works fine. Try re-running the program multiple times and see if the error pops up. If the error does, please follow the steps in the preceeding paragraph

-----

We would like to get to the bottom of this error, but since we cannot reproduce it ourselves, we require others to follow the necessary steps to figure out the problem. These steps are long but it is the only way we can fix the problem.

Fixed!. Deleting the C:\Users\USERAME\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Progra m Files\Red Kawa\, is what seemed to fix the problem. this is the only thing that I hadn't done last night. I have run and rerun the program a few times now and it is working perfectly.

I will tell you that last night when I was checking through the xml files, it was the nano 3G file that had the lower case p in it. But today after deleting the last Red Kawa file, all of the xml files showed upper care P's.

Thank you very much, Red Kawa. Your help is much appreciated.:D

Edit: since you asked...I'm running on Vista Home.

I am also running Vista Home Edition and your tip to delete: C:\Users\USERAME\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Progra m Files\Red Kawa\

worked for me as well. I've tested it a few times and I'm now certain that this folder and it's contents is what caused the problem. Thanks for helping us out!

When you get to USERNAME which of course would be your name, right click on that folder and make sure you check the box to show your hidden folders. After you click OK you should see the AppData folder when you click on your USERNAME. This is what I had to do because the AppData folder was not showing up for me either.

I was getting the same error message. I knew it was something to do with the user profile in Windows. I created a new user profile and installed it under that user and all was good. I then decided it was time to refresh my system so I did a wipe and clean install, it was about time for that anyways. I will try deleting that directory if I run into it again :-)

Funny that if I open the offending XML in Notepad, the <ProfileList> tag is with a capital P, if I open it in IE, it is with an lower-case P.

I have a little bit different issue. This error occurs when I try to attempt an action, e.g. put the directory of my device, add a video to convert and so on. I followed strictly the post given by Red Kawa, even though never had the chance to see the problem it fixes. But still no improvements. This issue showed up when I installed and used 4.03 of PSP and iPod convertor.

Next time please start your own thread since it is clearly unrelated to anything else in this thread. Anyways, this was a PSP Video 9 issue and it is fixed in 4.04.

Make sure you delete all the folders before installing 4.04:

- Uninstall the program from the Start Menu/Control Panel
- Delete the C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\
- Delete C:\Users\USERAME\AppData\Red Kawa\
- Delete C:\Users\USERAME\AppData\Roaming\Red Kawa\

When you get to USERNAME which of course would be your name, right click on that folder and make sure you check the box to show your hidden folders. After you click OK you should see the AppData folder when you click on your USERNAME. This is what I had to do because the AppData folder was not showing up for me either.

This is not an option for me. there's nothing to check.

I'm also on Vista, can't find the APP Data file, I've made sure there's nothing hidden. I'm not that computer illiterate so I'm confused on what to do.

Go to "Control Panel." Click "Classic View" to make the process simpler. Click on "Folder Options." Click on the "View" tab. Toggle "Show hidden files and folders."

I receive the first error message when I try to open Videora iPod Converter, then receive the second when I close it. I have tried all of the solutions listed in this topic and also the solutions in this topic (http://www.redkawa.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41135) but even after re-installing with the latest installer from the website, Videora still won't start.

Any help would be appreciated,

I am not sure if this is the same problem but I used to use Videora all the time. I have not used it in a while and recently tried to run it and every time I try and open it I receive the message "Videora Converter has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." in a handy dandy pop up window that gives me the options to debug or close. I tried uninstalling, downloading the latest version and installing that but I receive the same message. I found that by uninstalling my C:\ProgramFiles folder for red kawa is still there so I deleted that and then uninstalled and reinstalled. I still get the same error message. I don't seem to have the folder C:\Users and I looked for the folder in C:\DocumentsandSettings\USERNAME and i dont have a red kawa folder there either. I am running windows XP home edition

How do i fix this problem?

What do I do? I never had this problem when I used the old Red Kawa.

Also, sometimes my videos won't come out in Itunes. I forgot what the error message said.

This time, I tried converting an avi files. It was a drama. I had 3 of them. They were all avi files and 2 of them were able to be read and converted, but the last one wasn't. It says it can not read the file or somethign.

I have been trying this stage several times but it won't let me delete C:\Program Files\Red Kawa. The problem is the file VideoConverterApp, which it won't let me delete - it just goves a box saying Destination Folder Access Denied, You need permission to perform this action. There are two options, Try again and cancel. If I Try again, it just keeps brinign up the same thing.

Also, when I try to install Videora iPhone 3G Converter 4.07, I get a message Error opening file for writing: C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\Video Converter App.exe.

I don't know if the two problems are related. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm also having the same problem. I have done everything from cleaning every file out. Uninstalling and reinstalling a new one and still have the same error 000100. Is the new 4.08 the problem??? My older version worked just fine.
