Release Notes:
This release is a major one containing the changes we hoped to include originally in version 4.00. Things took a bit longer than we expected so instead of waiting until it was ready, we released 4.00 with less changes along side the new iPods.
The conversion core and the video properties reader have both been updated. We improved the aspect ratio detection when creating MP4 SP videos from AviSynth files.
This version completes the work we started in 4.02 implementing multi-converter support. Our PSP, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360 and Apple TV users will notice a massive difference in how the software works compared to the old version 2 converters. To learn how to use version 4 of the converters, see in in program help section or the Videora iPod Converter Help (http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/help/) pages. Although the link is intended for iPod users, the help information applies to all our converters.
We have also changed around the names of a few profiles (in Power Mode).
Old Profiles -> 4.02+ Profiles
AVC QVGA 768kbps Stereo/128kbps Advanced -> AVC QVGA 768kbps Stereo/128kbps
AVC QVGA 768kbps Stereo/128kbps -> AVC QVGA 768kbps Stereo/128kbps (Fast but BAD)
As you can see, we have made the old advanced profile now the default one. This is because these profiles now have all the proper flags required by x264 to create good H.264 videos. This will result in longer conversion times which is the cost of having good compression. If you don't want to wait, switch to MP4 SP instead and play around with the bitrate.
We have left in the old original profile but have now named it more properly as "Fast but BAD". While this profile will put your video into the H.264 format, it won't use all the compression features found in H.264 thereby defeating the whole purpose of using H.264. These old profiles are BAD.
If you have a PSP, make sure you select the correct firmware at the first run screen. If your firmware is less than 3.30, you can only playback older videos and the software needs to know this to create these older videos. We highly recommend that you upgrade to at least 3.30 so you can play PSP video at the native 480x272 resolution which was previously not possible.
Upgrade Notes:
Upgrading from 4.01, 4.00 or older - Due to the level of changes made, there is no easy way to upgrade and keep your old settings and profiles. We recommend that you completely uninstall any old version you have and start fresh with 4.03.
If you are using Windows Vista and used either 4.00 or 4.01 prior to upgrading, you may run into an error when you finally run your newly installed 4.02+. Please follow the steps in this post (http://www.redkawa.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40816) to fix the problem.
