Your question is a bit brief but this hopefully may help.
If your going to use PSP Video 9, dowload and install it as instructed. Then open PSP Video 9 and you will see a DVD link in blue in the top left hand corner.
Click on the link and download DVD Decrypter and use it as instructed, it is easy to use but follow the instructions carefully.
This good program Decrypt all but some of the very latest DVD's. Then use PSP Video 9 by selecting the VIDEO link in blue below the DVD link and follow the instruction given in the normal user mode. You will find the correct DVD file if you select the folder where the DVD Decrypter program put it.
I like Video quality - High, Enhance quality - On and Sound quality High.
On a modern Intel E2200 PC takes approx. 10 minutes to Decrypt and 1 to 2 hours to Encode using PSP Video 9.
For reviews of various programs Google for VideoHelp.com select tools from left hand side and select the type you are interested in. Hope this helps.

I am also a new user of PSP video 9 and have successfully downloaded a couple of videos from youtube and converted them and moved them to the PSP, so something works

But when trying to convert DVDs I have two problems.

There is no sound on any DVD that I rip using the decrypter.
The PSP always says either 'unsupported format' or 'file corrupted' if I copy a converted file to it.

In regards to the first point, files WILL play in quick time once ripped from the DVD, but silently. So should I be selecting one of the audio files on the DVD when decrypting? The Normal Mode instructions seem to indicate I should only select the video (step 5)
"Go to the main screen and click the Stream Processing tab. Enable it and only select the first video listed. Note that home encoded movies do not support subtitles of any kind and that your file can only have one type of audio."
But if I select both video and, say the second one down which is typically 6ch AC3 audio, how does that affect the conversion later on?

With regards to the second, has anyone else had this experience?

If it helps I am running Windows XP

In answer to EABowden, for step 5 you must check/select the video/movie plus one of the audio.
If you zoom in on the screen image in the instructions you will see a tick for both.
You will then get the sound. Uncheck everything else, the subtitles won't show up when you have finished but I presume the file size will be smaller without the unnecessary stuff.
Have done lots of movies on two different PC's, should work fine then.

I'm sure when I tried that I got two files output. I'll try again later, cheers.

You shouldn't get two files output. You should get a single .VOB file with both audio and video.

Perhaps the decrypter I downloaded is duff, could you suggest a better link?

You will get two files in the VIDEO_TS folder within the folder DVD Decrypter saved the DVD copy.
They are usually VTS_01_0 and the correct file to use VTS_01_1.
If you use the normal user mode only the correct VTS_01_1 file will show when you open the VIDEO_TS folder with PSP Video 9 to select the file.
Also, If you have got Nero on your PC you can double click this file and it will play in nero, with the sound, so you can check you are happy with it before you open PSP Video 9 and convert it.
I think the website link I used was www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/. Google VideoHelp.com, select "tools" from the left hand side, then select "Decrypters (DVD Rippers)" and DVD Decrypter will appear in a list complete with links to the downloads.
I am getting slightly better results with this and PSP Video 9 than I get with DVDFab HD Decrypter and Sony Media Manager Pro 3.0. I still use the second two for the occassional DVD that cannot be done with DVD Decrypter because it is not updated anymore since 2005?

Getting there...

I now have a working video, but it stops at 16 minutes. The VOB file is 3MB, so I presume it has ripped the entire DVD, and there is something causing the converter to crash. Screensaver perhaps?

The file should be roughly 4 to 7 GB for a DVD Movie. Titanic is 6.8 GB.
Make sure you have a copy of DVD Decrypter with all the default settings, uninstall and reinstall it if needs be, so you know you have not altered the settings.
Then open PSP Video 9 and select Help, then select the DVD Conversion Guide. Follow the instructions only changing what they say and you should get a file this size for a DVD movie.
If you look at my post "Is PSP Video 9 4.04 download corrupted?" I have detailed what caused it to crash for me and how to fix, but if you have a problem it may be different.
Another post says to clear out cookies etc. from internet explorer then restart. This may help as normal user mode uses the internet.
Just make sure you go to the Mode menu and select IFO. Next go to the Tools menu and select Settings. Under the IFO Mode tab set File Splitting to none. As instructed in the DVD Conversion Guide.
You will only have to select/check the Video and the Sound streams then when you open the program next time as it will remember these settings when you use it for the next DVD.
Best of luck

Try something else. DVD Decrypter is an old program that is no longer being developed and has fallen behind when it comes to moderm protection schemes on some DVDs.

For the ones DVD Decrypter cannot do I use the Free version of DVDFab HD Decrypter and then installed the Free version of Sony Media Manager from the Sony Playstation website. You have to put the latest Firmware from this site onto the PSP, then pay £8? to upgrade it to the Pro version. I think you can do it from the menus on the free version. It works almost straight away with a credit card.
Its drag and drop then to convert the files. Always use the HIGH setting to minimise blurring with motion on the Videos. These progams can be installed on the same PC as the other two you have tried without problems.
The PSP needs to be connected to the PC whilst you do the conversion with media manager (1-2 hours with an Intel E2200 dual core.) The USB/charging lead can be bought from Game if you need one.
You can disconnect just the power connection whilst converting and leave the mini USB in to prevent overcharging. If its fully charged it will last for many many hours.
This Decrypter produces lots of files but Sony Media Manager uses what it needs automatically.
XviD4PSP (Listed on the VideoHelp site) seems to be another good Free converter but you have to download codecs for it and I am not sure which Decrypter program produces the files it needs. The forum for it seems fairly good though so you might get help there.
Good luck.
