the videoinfo tool seems to be having some kind of problem with the format of these two files (causing the 0x8007000B error). Have you tried encoding with any other kind of input, perhaps a clean DVD rip, to help narrow down the circumstances that cause the crash?

It's just xvid and divx5... shouldn't be a problem. have you tried moving your source files out of documents and settings?

I will try both of these suggestions when I get home tonight and report back.

Thanks for the help. I'm traveling to China and want to get these movies onto my iphone for the trip.

Tried moving it and I got the same thing...

I don't know what happened. I used to be able to use it. I've checked to make sure I don't have two versions or anything like that. Well, checked the best I know how. Program files, add delete software etc.

HRESULT: 0x8007000B.
I googled that error code, and didn't get any eurekas. Seems that it is something to do with .NET or ASP.NET; on this forum there were some users of 64bit Vista that had similar errors, but from your log it looks like you are using XP. And in either case, it looks like the error at the videoinfo stage doesn't prevent the encoding from starting, but it makes the integrity of that AVI file very suspect.

If you are determined to use that particular AVI file, you could try other conversion tools to see if they choke on it as well. Not sure what you have on your computer, but Nero Recode is a tool that you could try. I used that for a while but found it to be slower than Videora. But who knows, it may work on your particular AVI. There are guides online, eg http://arstechnica.com/guides/tweaks/ipod-video.ars/5 I bought my copy of Nero, but it looks like the Recode app is available as a free download now -- not sure if the free version has limitations or not.

Thanks for the input. I'll try Nero Recode tonight.

I got it to work with Xilisoft Video Converter but the audio doesn't sync up after about 10 mins.

It appears to be related to your .NET Framework.

anything I can do to fix the .NET problem? (I have no idea what that is)

It's a windows component installed by the Windows Update site.

I uninstalled my current version and installed 3.0 and still no dice.

Oh, well. I'll try and rip from one of my DVD's and convert that and post a log if there is an error.

Thanks for the help!

You should install 1, 1,1, 2, and 3

Ahh, ok. Thought they were updated versions, not 4 seperate installs.

Thanks.
