I got the same damn problem. I uploaded a 142 Mb file fine but when i tried a 260MB i get
"an error occurred during the download operation media center"

Try Vilvic Media Center

see www.vilvic.com for more details

Largest file transferred successfully from PC to PS3 is 19gb!

I was actually able to transfer/download 1.5GB last night from my PC to PS3 in less than 5 minutes. I'm amazed at the ease of use the MCX has.

So if you're finding that you cannot transfer the file it is most likely due to an unsupported format and therefore the PS3 will only transfer it to an external drive. I had this issue with a One Piece episode that was in .mp4 but not the right format, so it was able to transfer, but not able to play. Then I converted a 750+MB Video file with the PS3V9 and it turned into a 1.5GB file and transfered very easily.

Just to point out the file extension doesn't particularly matter (sure the PS3 insists on .avi files going to removable media and is happy to download mp4's to your PS3 hard drive). If a file starts to download to your PS3 it should be able to complete the download - that sounds more of a connection problem rather than a problem of the media center or the PS3.

The PS3 will not save anything it does not know about or how to play. I experienced this when I wanted to download an unsopported formart(i forget the type..sorry)video, it asked me to insert a storage device. But that same video was converted to MPEG4 and the PS3 took it and liked it! lol.
