Hi,

I've used the iPhone 3G video converter before and I've successfully converted my videos, however when I use the Nokia 5800 converter, the clip isn't playable on the Nokia 5800. The clip works fine in VLC, but the phone won't play it.

Any ideas? I was thinking that maybe the resolution of the output video wasn't right for the phone, but I'm not sure how to check this.

That's quite odd.
Were you using normal mode or power mode?

Did you try different formats and sizes (normal mode)?
Did you try different profiles (power mode)?

I usually use Power mode and One-Click Convert, but I did try it by changing some profile settings such as MPEG4 VGA 1024kbps Stereo / 128kbps and changing the video codec to MPEG-4. It converted ok and would play through VLC, but it wouldn't play on the phone.

I'll give it a shot with Normal Mode and I'll post back what happens.

I've just tried it with Normal Mode and it still won't play on the phone.

Has anyone got any ideas on how to fix this? And has anyone actually got this version to work with the Nokia 5800?

Go to Powermode or settings and change from H.264 VGA 1024kps Stereo/128kps to MPEG4.........
It's my understanding that 5800's don't support H.264 encoding

Works well, extremely well in fact.
the only changes you need to do is change the format from New to Old using the slider. Change the audio to medium and the video to medium. I've noticed the phone has issues with large files. if you do what I have mentioned the file sizes for a TV show are really small. Also don't use the OVI or Nokia suite to upload on to the phone as it reconverts and dosen't work. Just copy and past into the Video Folder on the Mem card through windows.

The phone is ment to support the h264 format but that didn't work so the new to old setting seems to put it in another form of MPEG4.

Thanks a lot. That was what's wrong with my conversion process :)
