Forum Posting Guidelines (READ BEFORE POSTING)

Assist us in providing that help by following these guidelines.

1) Create a new thread for your problem
- Do not post your problem in another person’s thread
- Do not PM the moderators with your problem

2) Include a console log in your post.
- Making a post telling people you have a problem without posting a console log is like going to the doctor, saying “I’m sick” and then expecting him to cure you. There is no way a doctor can help you just from the words “I’m sick”. Doctors run tests and then use the test results to determine your problem and try to cure you. A console log is like a doctor’s test results. It allows people in the forum to determine your problem and try to help you.

- If you do not include a console log in your post, the first reply you get will tell you to post a console log, so just save yourself and everyone else’s time by posting a console log in the first place. In order to save his own time, you might see Midiman say “PAL” in a response to your post. This is his acronym for “Post A Log”.

How to Post a Console Log
To generate a console log, please follow these steps.
1. Click the “Convert”, click the "Console" tab and check the "Enable Console" box.
2. Start encoding the video that failed as you normally would
3. If your conversion is still going after 10 seconds, click the "Cancel" button in the “Progress” tab.
4. Click the "Console" tab and then click the “Copy Console” button
5. Paste the text into your message using CTRL-V or right clicking your mouse and clicking the “Paste” option.

3) Do not use special forum tags to post your Console Log
- Avoid using the quote or code forum tags when posting your console log.
- You can see an example of what NOT to do here:

- When you post the text without these tags, your console log text wraps nicely making it easy to read. If you use the quote or code tags (as seen in the above link) it creates horizontal scroll bars making it harder to read your console log.

Other Forum Guidelines

- Do not post your problem in multiple threads
- Do not post your problem in multiple posts
- Do not post your problem in multiple forums

- Use descriptive subjects for your thread. Titles such as "This doesn't work!", "Feature Request", "Bug Report", and "Help!" do not provide any information on what your message is about.

- Stay on topic when replying to existing messages. Keep it to one user/issue per thread, please. If you have the same issue, wait for a response or post in a new thread.

- Be civil and respectful to your fellow posters. I understand that having video on your handheld device is an exciting prospect, and it's really frustrating when things don't work. That alone is not an excuse to be rude or aggressive with people who are trying to help you, especially when they're not getting paid for it (none of the posters on this forum are Red Kawa employees). You're allowed to be dissatisfied with product quality and say so, but if you're venting as opposed to actually looking for help please do it elsewhere.

- Provide as much details about the problem and your settings as possible. What exactly happens? Is it specific to any file types? Is it specific to the iPod, or is the problem present in Quicktime as well?

Lastly... when something WORKS and fixes your problem... let us know what it was specifically. Don't just run away all happy 'n' stuff. Help us get a fix on certain problems so we can help the guy who comes along after you.
