View Full Version : Upgrade Issues with Vista

I had a working version of 4.7 running and tried to upgrade to 5.01.
I uninstalled first, downloaded the setup file, installed with no virus program running. The program will not run anymore.
Vista just says "Videora Converter has stopped working."
I then deleted all files and folders, searched the regestry and deleted referances to videoconverterapp.exe and repeated the above with the same result.
I then erased temp internet files and re-downloaded the installer and repeated the above with the same result.
I assume that because V4.7 was working my .NET files are OK.
Are there any other suggestions on how to fix this?

Are you using 32-bit or 64-bit Vista?
Do you encounter the same issues with 5.02?
Is there any more error details (from Windows) that you can give us?
rick300m

32 Bit and same with 5.02.
There are no error messages, it just says stopped working.
What else can I try?

Is the Vista User that is running the program a Standard User or an Administrator?
There should be an option to "View Problem Details" on that error message. If you click that, then the box that shows up, then Ctrl-C you should be able to copy the contents of that box and then you can post it into your reply.
Does version 5.00 (Download Link (http://files.redkawa.com/installers/videoconverterapp/502/videora-ipod-502-setup.exe)) work fine for you?

Could you go to Control Panel then Add or Remove Programs.
Then see if you have any of the following programs installed:
Microsoft Visual C+ #### Redistributable
#### - Will be a year like 2005
Please list which of these you have installed.
If you have none installed, please download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package from Microsoft (Download Link (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=32BC1BEE-A3F9-4C13-9C99-220B62A191EE&displaylang=en)). Once that is installed try running 5.02 again and see if you get the same crash.
Thanks for helping us out. We are unable to reproduce this crash ourselves so we are totally reliant on you letting us know what works and what doesn't.

I'm having the same problem as rick, using Videora converter for iPod nano. I was using 4.8 (I think) and upgraded to 5.02 on Vista (32 bit), but Videora isn't starting up. The Youtube downloader app doesn't start up either. The error message I get is
[Window Title]
Microsoft Windows
[Main Instruction]
Videora Converter has stopped working
[Content]
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
[Close program]
I've attached a screenshot from my installed programs list showing the Visual C++ installations I have.
I downloaded and installed version 5.00 from here (http://files.redkawa.com/installers/videoconverterapp/500/videora-ipodnano-500-setup.exe), which is working fine!

Do you use firefox? If so what version?
We introduced some major backend changes in 5.01+ which are causing these issues. The odd thing is that everything is working fine for most people and on all of our test machines. There is definitely a subset of people where its not working such as yourself. This makes it quite difficult to figure out what is going on.
It looks like its going to be harder to solve. We'll have to create a test program to gather more information. This will take several hours.
We appreciate your continued help, without it we won't be able to fix this. Please check back at this post regularly for continued updates. Also, if this is happening to you, please speak up as the more information we get, the faster we can find a fix.

Can you try this:
Go to: C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\Video Converter App\XULRunner\
Select all the contents of this folder and then Edit > Copy
Go to: C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\Video Converter App\
Edit > Paste
Then try running version 5.02 from its desktop or start menu shortcut.

I use Firefox 3.5.3
The file copy fix worked for me too, running 5.02! :D So should I just continue running it like this?
Red Kawa
10-03-2009, 01:17 PM
Glad to hear you both got it working.
You can continue running it like that.
Now that we have found a solution, we will make it permanent in 5.03 so you won't have to do any copying from then on, it should just work right after install.
Thanks again for your help and responses, without it this would have never been fixed.

I there any way for me to download V5.0?

That sounds like an issue unrelated to the one in this post.
version 5.00 (Download Link (http://files.redkawa.com/installers/videoconverterapp/502/videora-ipod-502-setup.exe)).

I checked to see if I get the same problem as rick with creating/editing profiles, and I do! Could be related to this earlier problem we were both having.
Here's the error that I get. Clicking Quit exits Videora, clicking Continue closes the error dialog and I'm back to the settings page.
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

That error shouldn't have anything to do with the original one. However, the fact that both of you encounter it is highly suspect.
Unfortunately, we are unable to reproduce the original or new error ourselves making it extremely difficult to fix.
Is it possible for you to see if the same exact error occurs when using 5.00 (Download Link (http://files.redkawa.com/installers/videoconverterapp/500/videora-ipodnano-500-setup.exe))?

We were able to reproduce this bug on 5.02 finally. We believe it is present in all installations of 5.02. Based on our testing of 5.03, the bug is no longer there, which is odd since we didn't do anything to directly address it. We believe a tiny portion of 5.02 got corrupted somehow causing that issue.
Version 5.03 will be released this week so hopefully that will fix things
teesang:
The copy and paste fix should work, or you can wait for version 5.03 which is coming soon.

Version 5.03 has been released. From this version on you shouldn't have to preform the copy and paste fix.
If you are moving from 5.02 (w/ copy fix applied) then you should follow the following procedures. First, uninstall 5.02 normally. Then delete the C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\ directory manually. Then install 5.03.
The reason for this is because the 5.02 unisntaller will not delete those files you copied over and they will remain until you manually delete them.
rick300m, lemons:
This update should also fix that New/Edit Profile bug you were seeing. While we saw it in 5.02 we are not seeing it anymore in 5.03. Please let us know if it works or doesn't when you install 5.03.

I have installed the 5.03 version for the ipod touch converter, But everytime when the conversion is 99% converted, they will display an error message : failed to transfer converted file to your itunes media library. Please see the troubleshoot section.
I saw that one of the solutions was to manually add the files. is there any other alternative?
And, when they showed the error message, the other videos waiting to be converted has to be put on hold. I have to hit the 'OK' button before the other videos can be converted.
Is there something wrong with my computer or what? I am using the 3rd gen ipod touch and I reinstalled the program by the way.
