Videora iPod Converter

Release Notes:
Thanks to the feedback provided on the forums, we were able to pinpoint and fix a couple of video conversion issues plaguing our users making this version a MAJOR UPGRADE.

Cannot be played on the Ipod – The AutoResize function was not active for all of the VGA profiles present in earlier versions. This meant that videos larger than 640x480 would remain at their size which is incompatible with the iPod which caused this problem. All the profiles now have this feature activated for the appropriate (QVGA or VGA) resolution.

Slow Encoding – A few users have noted that the new 2.x versions of Videora iPod Converter converts video a lot slower than the old 0.9x version. The reason for this is because the default profile for this version uses a more advanced codec (H.264), a higher resolution (VGA – 640x480) and utilizes advanced codec features (Motion Compensation, Trellis, etc). The old version (0.9x) used a simpler codec (MPEG-4), lower resolution (320x240) and no advanced codec features as its default profile which led to much quicker encoding times. If you want the exact same encoding speeds as you got in the old version, simply use the “MPEG4 QVGA 768kbps Stereo/128kbps No Flags” and “H.264 QVGA 768kbps Stereo/128kbps Few Flags” profiles in this version. The advanced codec features used in most of the profiles in 2.x help increase the overall quality of the video without increasing the filesize very much.

Our investigation into the slow encoding led us to another very odd bug where Videora iPod Converter would convert the first conversion slowly and all subsequent conversions at a faster speed. We determined what caused this issue and it should now be fixed.

We’ve made a few GUI adjustments based on some suggestions found on the web. We’ve changed the size and location of a few controls to ensure that the program is completely usable at resolutions of 800x600. We have also made the decision to lock the GUI at a minimum of 800 pixels since any further minimization would make the controls start appearing on top of each other and make the program un-usuable. The controls in the Library section have also been resized to remove unnecessarily large spaces and a splitter control was added to the split view.

Upgrade Notes:
There is no upgrade available so you will have to download the full installer. The full installer will overwrite your old version so you will loose all your old settings and profiles unless you back these up first.
