Hey I'm new at this, and I knowi need the console log to get a full response, but in my frustration after waiting 4 hours for a conversion i closed the window too quickly haha. I am ripping a short snowboard dvd in the DVD Decrypter to a .VOB file, and when I converted using what i thought was recommended into a MP4 768, it still did not work. I am currently retrying using the H.264 VGA 768. Is using the H.264 a better bet? Also, what is the difference between VGA and QVGA? Sorry for my lack of knowledge, any help would be appreciated!

You can always just re-convert the file with the console log on. We only need like the first couple seconds of the log anyways so you can just hit abort once you start seeing the "frame=..." lines.
You'll have to elaborate more on the "did not work" and/or post the log.
Using H.264 may solve your problem, or the problem may lie with the original video itself.
QVGA means the video will be 320x240
VGA means the video will be 640x480
If you hook up your iPod to your TV and watch videos that way, you'll probably want VGA. But if you just watch your videos on the iPod screen, definitely go with QVGA as it will convert a little faster and give you better quality at the same bitrates.

after looking through the forums, I saw that using version 2.3 was not the way to go, I have just downloaded and im in the middle of a fresh conversion, and sorry, "did not work" referred to itunes being able to recognize the video, and play it within the program. but when i tried to copy this video to my ipod it said this is not a file that can be played on the ipod. Thanks for the QVGA advice i was a bit confused. Of course i had not read your reply before retrying a conversion and i started it in VGA. Will this be bad considering i will primarily be viewing videos via the ipod screen? or is it just a longer conversion time for better quality?

Yes you should definitely be using the latest version.
There is nothing wrong with creating VGA videos, they just take a little longer to convert and they'll have less quality than QVGA at the same bitrate.
