I am trying to convert a movie for viewing on the iPod. The conversion appears to be done (sorry, no console output, next time I will turn that on). If I go to the Library tab the movie is listed there. If I click on Play Movie, it plays in Quicktime at the iPod size. However, if I go to the output directory, the MP4 file is NOT THERE! Clearly something is being played in the QT player, but I cannot locate it on the filesystem. A full search of C:\ for *.mp4 finds no files. Any idea what is going on? I am running Vista Home. I do not have iTunes installed because I am only converting on this machine, my iPod syncs with a different machine. It did give me an error message that it could not add the file to iTunes, could that be the issue? Even though I unchecked the box in the Settings to have it automatically add to iTunes.

Any help would be appreciated.

Quicktime Player: Window -> View Movie Info. The "Source" setting should show you the location of your file.

Yeah, I actually did that. And the file was still missing. It was strange.

I re-ran the conversion and this time the file is showing up. So I am not sure what went wrong. The weird thing is that the mystery file is still in my Library.

Thanks.
