It's your home network. Unless you're routing the external IP of your home network to a computer (or your PS3) on your subnet, then only people within your home network can access the files.

On a side note, if you have to ask this question, you really shouldn't be using this application.

You waited a whole 5 mins for an answer. Being rude is probably why you got a rude reply.

Short answer: Probably not.

Longer answer: Possibly. It depends how the PC you have the media center installed on connects to the internet.

If it has a direct connection to the internet, then yes most certainly anyone browsing to your WAN (the one that connects you to the internet) IP will be able to use the web-page just as you do on your Wii or PS.

The Media center just contains a small Web server and out of the box (I haven't investigated to far) allows connections from anywhere, not just your local area network. (Although that might be a neat idea). I have confirmed this is the case with "Wii Media Center X 0.92" (i am presuming its the same as variants)

So if your DSL modem, Cable modem or even Dialup modem connects directly to your PC and your PC initiates the connection (IE you have to use XP Broadband dialer or a PPPoE dialer) then in theory anyone can view your files if they know your WAN IP.

On the otherhand, if your PC connects to a router (most common setup these days) and the ROUTER initiates the connection, you will be "fairly" safe. It is still possible but you would have to enable port forwarding on the router to the PC behind it because you will most probably be in a NAT'ed configuration (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_address_translation)

Hope this helps!

Hi smileydude,

As Kesey and aSp stated, an out-of-the-box home network setup will only allow people on your local area network to access your files.

Merry Christmas!

The government views what you download and play on your PS3.
