So I've been going through some old AVI files and converting them to MP4 so that I can play them on my AppleTV. Problem is because of the settings I selected in Videora, the output is now three times bigger than the original.

Not a big deal as I have tons of space, but a 700 MB file appeases me much more than a 2.2 GB file. Ugh.

Thoughts on this?

I essentially bumped all settings to the highest (Video Size to HDTV, Video Quality to BEST, Enhance Quality to ON, etc.). By doing so the files are large - I realize that. I'm curious to know if it's necessary. They're DVIX files, so they're not HD quality. That being said, they're still decent. I wonder if I just bumped the size to HDTV and left all else on defaults if I'd even notice.

On a related note, I have a core 2 quad 6600 with 3 GB RAM, and each of these still takes upwars of 5 to 7 hours to convert. Ugh. I thought surely this would rip through the conversion much more quickly. Any thoughts on this one, too?

Thanks in advance.
