help me please

i just bought a ps3 .... i was way excited to transfer my files

i have a 20 GB ps3 ... i connected it via the ethernet cable the box provided ....
i downloaded PS3 MEdia center X .....

i copyed the ip address it gave me onto my ps3 browser ..... it says

PAGE CANT BE DIPLAYED
network error occured



my home network is perfectly fine ... and my ps3 network settings are on automatic ...

could someone please help ... im new to this

Did you click Launch Media Center ( a button in the small PS3 Media Center box) before you attempted to use the PS3 browser?
