Affected Software:
PS3 Video 9

Release Notes:
There were a pair of nasty mistakes in the previous release of PS3 Video 9. While they weren’t software bugs per se, they likely resulted in causing all your video conversions to fail if you used the default settings. We have fixed these mistakes in version 2.13 and the program should now be working normally after a fresh install.

We are quite happy to announce the new and very cool “QuickTime HD Input” feature in this latest version PS3 Video 9. This features lets you convert certain QuickTime HD files with absolutely no quality loss from the original and will convert your videos about 100 times faster than using the normal method of conversion. Now you can finally play all those HD Movie Trailers on Apple’s site on your PS3 without waiting hours for your video to be converted.

Here’s how to use the feature:
1. First get a hold of some QuickTime HD video. You can find tons of these videos on Apple’s Movie Trailer site
2. Save the QuickTime file on your hard drive. You may need QuickTime Pro to do this.
3. Click the “Convert Video” button in PS3 Video 9 (Convert > Current Conversion tab), select the QuickTime file, select the profile named “QuickTime HD MOV Input” and click the “Start” button.
4. The conversion should take less than a minute and then you can move the resulting file to your PS3 and play it like you normally would.

The PS3 can handle 1080p trailers with ease so feel free to download either the 720p or 1080p versions of the trailers you want.

Upgrade Notes:
There is no upgrade available so you will have to download the full installer. The full installer will overwrite your old version so you will loose all your old settings and profiles. Even though you can backup and re-import your old profiles, you shouldn’t as the old profiles had some bad values in them.

I'm having a hard time getting this to work...

I downloaded the 1080p trailer of 'The Departed' from the Apple Trailers website, that converted fine in just under a minute. Played on the PS3 fine with no problems.

I then downloaded trailers for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and Ocean's 13.

But they didn't work. I got the same error for both trailers.

Is there any way to get around this?

Here is the error screencap:

What versions of both of those trailers were you trying to convert? 1080p?

Yes, all trailers I download are the 1080p versions.

I tried other trailers from the Apple Trailers site and same thing happened with the:

'The Kingdom' trailer in 1080p

and

'Live Free or Die Hard' trailer in 1080p.

Thanks for your help.

Does the "MKV X264 input" even work? I converted a sample from a 4.3gig x264 mkv file and I just get "unsupported format" on the PS3 even when it goes through all the motions and says "conversion complete".

I'm on XP SP1 and PS3 v1.10

Thanks for the help!

I'm not having any problems with the QT input so far: it's really fantastic! This feature easily trounces anything else I've seen from a video converter. Great job!

However, MKV support still doesn't seem to be working for me. Maybe the file doesn't feature proper header info, but this is the error I get for one file (in the console): "MSG - MkvInfo - A_AC3 Track: -1
MSG - MkvInfo - V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC Track: 1
MSG - Converter - Could not detect Audio/Video Track Number"

Which QT files have you tried? I downloaded trailers from the Apple website and only one converted succesfully(The Departed, 1080p version), all the others I get an error(look above for the screecap)...

Thanks.

Yeah I get this on some MKVs, it's probably the initial encoding that botched it up (PS3video9 will not convert it if it gets that error), but on others it converts them but they do not play.

All of these trailers have converted for me: Day Watch, Pathfinder, Journey From the Fall, Eagle Vs Shark, Slow Burn, Waitress, Talk To Me. Of course, these are all new trailers from Apple's website. Maybe older movies, like The Departed, won't work?

No, you see, The Departed did work. Trailers for The Kingdom, Pirates 3, Ocean's 13, Live Free or Die Hard didn't work... and I'm not sure why.

All trailers are in 1080p.
