Once you start Media Center X on your PC a small box will open. Note your IP address in the box. Now click the button in the small box which says Launch Media Center X. A blue screen should appear. Now, key in your IP address on the PS3 browser. That should open a blue screen on your PS3 display. Navigate to your file.

If you want to do this in File server, simply start File server, and it will give you something like http://192.168.x.x:xxxx
where the "x"s are digits in your IP address.
Go to the internet browser on your PS3, type it in, then go to settings, make sure you can access your entire hard drive, then access it and download it!

Which are you using, File Server or Media Server X? Have you launched the server before you begin using the PS3 browser. You'll know if you've actually launched it on your PC when you see a black screen with your drives on it if using the File Server and the monitor will have a blue screen if you launch Media Server X.

the browser ps3 just put the numbers in nothing else that should bring up the same screen that is on your pc. Then you can search through c drive and find the file your looking for then it will download to the ps3. At least that is what is happening on mine

yea thats exactly what happens, exept the last download part. i can see all the my files, ive been to settings and removed the block thingy and typed the folder so it will allow download, but when i click on the movie file it just shows a error page and says path not found. this goes for all files not just movies i can only open folders not any of the files.

i have a router though, could it be the router firewall acting up?

The hardware router fire wall should be on the other side of the connection, it really isn't a factor, the windows software fire wall is another matter. Check to make sure you have allowed the file server access through the windows firewall

Don't forget to go to the bottom of the screen on your PC to tell it what to share, and make sure you type in not just the IP address on the PS3 browser, but the four diget port as well!
