Umm...you can edit your posts you know that right?
Anyway, the reason it is asking that is because the PS3 has no idea what it is you are trying to save. If the PS3 doesn't know what the format of the data is for then it will only allow you to save it to an external drive, like a Memory Stick. So unless someone comes out with an application to "convert" the PS2 save data to a format the PS3 can read it won't be possible.
The most likely reason it doesn't know what to do is because the PS2 information is saved onto a Memory Card, but with the PS3 it stores that data onto it's internal HDD, so it would make sense the format is different.
But then again...this is all just my personal speculation on the subject and is in no way factual :D

I second the motion. Bottom line, the file attempting to be copied is not an approved type as spelled out in the manual, which has been updated by the way. With the release of 1.60 by Sony the on-line manual adds a few approved types, such as avi and avchd for videos and wma for music. See on-line manual here for details.

To make it a bit easier to understand I guess here is an example.
PS3 Internal HDD save PS2 games as .igs (internal game save).
PS2 Memory Card saves PS3 games as .mcs (memory card save).
So the formats are totally different and the PS3 has no idea what it is. So unless you can borrow a friends PS2, get a Codebreaker and a Flash Drive to transfer the save game to the Flash Drive then onto the PS2 then onto the Memory Card and then a Memory Card transfer accessory for the PS3 you won't be able to get the save game to work. Alot of work really.
But that is quite possibly the only solution to your problem currently. :D

I don't have a PS2 so I'm out of my realm here but the answer to getting a game loaded onto PS3 is not going to work using Media Center X. It's not going to allow you to copy, save or anything. It's not a matter of fixing it because it ain't broke in that sense. It was never designed to load programs to PS3, only to copy approved files and by files I talking music, pictures and videos.
If you paid for this tekken game won't it load in a conventional manner by inserting disk?
Sorry if I don't "get it". Are you trying to load the game so you don't have to use the disk each time or what.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you downloaded it through the proxy service that some people use to access the PSStore and not have to update the firmware. If so then you may be able to transfer as long as your computer hasn't changed the format at all.
You just have to adjust the settings in MCX to allow transfers for whatever location you saved the PS game to. Then you should be able to download it to the PS3 HDD. If not then you may be SOL and lost 5 pounds. You should try the FW bypass method posted on some sites. That way you'll be able to download directly to your PS3.
But like cozdiver, I am out of my realm in the fact that...I never downloaded any PS1 games to my PS3.

I have used the fw bypass method and it worked at first but i tried putting a psp game on there and it completly screwed up can i do anything to fix this?
You can re-download purchased games up to 5 times without being charged. Just download it again to the PS3 HDD if you can't get it to work.
