hi.
i put a film on ps3 media x and set it up so i can download it. so wen i go on it on my ps3 i click on the film and it says insert media storage device how do i get it so it downloads onto the ps3 hd

When it asks you to insert a media storage device it's telling you the file is not authorized for load onto the PS3. Compare your file to the approved file types in the manual. The program is trying to be accomodating by offering to pass it on to a media storage device but it will not load it.
Use a program like the one on this site, PS3 Video 9 to convert it over to an approved type. An mp4 AVC profile would be an excellent choice. There are several profile choices to chose from.
