Hi i wondered if any1 had any luck converting Divx videos so they work on the ps3? If so can any1 tell me how u did it. I converted a Divx file but the framerate was horrible it rendered the movie unwatchable.

First question what dose the divx video look like. main reason I ask is some people don't know what settings to use when ripping a dvd and think that is the best way to get the files off a dvd is to rip them to divx. If it looks good on your computer than it is less likely to be that kind of a issue.

What did you encode the video too, and what settings did you tweak. I think most are havening decent luck with the normal 768k/sec AVC. But that is also the format that has had the most issues. and yes the bittrate is important.

Have you tried to play the video file on your computer before taking it to the PS3, also what video program are you using. VLC/Quicktime/Windows Media. If that plays fine then it is more likely to be a PS3 issue and not a Divx issue.

What Ps3 do you have (I don't know the read/Write speed of the 60's built in card reader) how exactly are you playing the file on your PS3, What happens if you copy the video the the PS3's Hard drive first? That isolates any possibly PS3 related bandwidth problems.

I tried converting to mpeg2 i did even want to convert same goes for Mpeg it accepted Mpeg 4 but the framrate was horrible.
The Divx movie works perfectally on my Pc great quality great sound (played using Widows media player). Alsoi didn't play it from the car reader i rather had it on the Hdd.

Maybe i am not having any luck or there's something i overlooked.

Does changing the bitrate in the video settings improve the over all quality? If so what's a good bitrate to use currently i set it on the maximum to see if it's going to work. But the file is getting pretty big i am conerting using the mp4 avc format.
